3. What are the methods of data
collection?
Two types of data collection
• Primary data: The primary data are those which
are collected afresh and for the first time and are
original in character.
• Secondary data: the secondary data, on the other
hand, are those which have already been collected
by someone else and which have already been
passed through the statistical process
4. Sources of primary data with their
classifications
Primary sources and classifications
• Questionnaire method
• Interview method
• Observation method
• Projective techniques
• Document study
5. Some other methods of data collection
• Warranty cards
• Distributor or store audits
• Pantry audits
• Consumer panels
• Use of mechanical devices
• Depth interviews
• Content analysis
6. Briefly discuss the various types of
attitude scale?
Attitude scale:
Attitude scaling requires that an individual agree
or disagree or disagree with statement or
respond to a single question.
7. Types of attitude scale
• Likert summated scale: likert summated scales are one
of the most commonly used in social science research.
It is named after its creator psychologist rensis likert.
• Bogardus social distance scale: the bogardus social
distance scale was created by emory bogardus as a
technique for measuring the willingness of people to
participate in social relation with other kinds of people.
• Thurstone equal appearing intervals scale: The
thurstone method is time consuming and costly. From
a historical perspective it is valuable, but its current
popularity is low. Because it is rarely utilized in most
applied business research.
8. • Semantic differential scale: the semantic
differential scales ask respondents of a
questionnaire to choose between two opposite
positions using qualifiers to bridge the gap
between them.
• Gutman cumulative scale: a gutman scale
presents a number of items to which the person
is requested to agree or not agree. This is
typically done in a yes/no dichotomous format.
9. What is random sampling? State the various methods
of random sampling?
Random sampling:
Probability sampling is also known as random
sampling. Sampling design every item of the
universe has an equal chance of inclusion in
the sample.
10. Types of random sampling method
• Simple random sampling
• Systematic random sampling
• Stratified sampling
• Cluster sampling
• Area sampling
• Multi-stage sampling
11. What is non-probability sampling?
Non-probability sampling is a sampling
technique where the samples are gathered in
a process that does not give all the individuals
in the population equal chances of being
selected.
