      • § 1. The objective of the public libraries is to promote information, education and cultural activity by making available books, periodicals, talking books and other suitable material , such as recorded music and electronic information resources, including Internet and multimedia.
      • The municipal council is obliged, possibly in co-operation with other municipal councils, to run a public library with departments for children and adults.
      • § 9. The county libraries act as main loan centre for the public libraries by endeavouring to obtain material to the extent that the public libraries do not themselves possess this material
