define it the first time you use it
Avoid long sentences. If sentences are long,
break down to shorter sentences.

Suggest images that would reinforce script
Only put words on screen if absolutely
necessary

  • 23. Reduce Cognitive Load Keep content concise and relevant Short videos - typically 3 minutes (about 400 words) If longer than 3 minutes, break it up into more videos Introduction and each objective is typically one video
  • 24. Writing Tips Avoid industry jargon. If introducing a new term, define it the first time you use it Avoid long sentences. If sentences are long, break down to shorter sentences.
  • 25. Writing Tips (Continued) Try speaking your sentences out loud as you are writing them Have a colleague review and give feedback
  • 26. Imagery Suggest images that would reinforce script Only put words on screen if absolutely necessary •  High-level bullet points •  Avoid using same words on screen as said in speech
