3. Cataloging of ComputerSoftware
AACR defines as electronic resources as
material encoded for manipulation by a
computerized device. This material may
require the use of a peripheral directly
connected to a computerized device (e.g.
CD-ROM drive) or a connection to a
computer network (e.g. Internet).
Electronic resources that do no require
the use of a computer, (i.e. music
compact discs and videodiscs) are not
included in this definition.
Libraries have not cataloging computer
software for long, so cataloging rules are
still evolving.
5. Cataloging of ComputerSoftware
•(such as CD-ROM’s, floppy disc, tapes)
comes in containers to be played through
a computerized device. Examples of types
of informational object contained in direct
access resources include:
