2. In the process of constructing the product, I have learnt a great deal
about different technologies which i used. Whilst learning how to use
the camera I learnt how film a certain shot types such as an eye level
shot and a panning room shot, how to position the camera best for a
high/low angle shot and some camera techniques such as shot
reverse shots and match on action. Even though I didn’t do most of
the filming I learnt how to use the camera and I gave directions to my
group on which shots we could use. I also learned how to set up the
tripod to create a steady shot and also secure the camera correctly.
During the filming time i used two cameras both had different set ups
and both fitted onto the tripod, this was because i found the filming
quality much better with the Nikon camera. To add to this my group
filmed the same scene many times to help keep the continuity
throughout the production and to also select the best one in the
editing stages.
3. Another technology that I have used is using the editing software iMovie.
When I first started using the programme in our preliminary task I didn’t
know how to use it but after following some tutorials I was able to work the
program. IMovie is a simple program to use and plays an important process
in creating my production because it allows you to create a professional
product. I have learnt features such as cutting and trimming clips so that
they end at the right time ready to go onto the next scene, how to add and
upload my footage into the program, how to select transitions and add text
onto the video with entrance effects and also add sound effects and our
soundtrack from Garageband.
Garageband is the other program I used to create the soundtrack on. On this
program you select sound clips which are available and cut/mix them
together to create a soundtrack. Again with this program I followed tutorials
on how to use it. From using this program I learnt how to use the basic
features of creating a soundtrack and how to construct them onto my
production. The soundtrack plays a major role because it creates the tension
and atmosphere portrayed in the film.
4. Other technology i used throughout the project was Wordpress.
This is an easy to use blogging website in which I have blogged
on regularly about research into existing films, research on
Hitchcock, my preliminary task, progress on editing my
production and my final production. This multimedia websites
allows you to insert images from your computer and also videos
from YouTube, this is useful because i was able to gain a wider
audience for my final production. I used Wordpress because it
requires no skill to know how to use it, the posts allows you to
insert different types of media and overall structure of the blog is
clear to read and navigate.
