Planning: Layouts - Sarah, Antonia + Lauren

 1. 1. PLANNING

LAYOUTS

Sarah, Antonia + Lauren

PLANNING
 2. 2. FRONT COVER

We each decided to have the same layout for our front covers in order to make them more realistic and to stick to the house style.

PLANNING
 3. 3. PLANNING FRONT COVER

Each front cover features one person as we found this was the most popular option when we conducted our audience research. We also decided to have the title in the top left corner and a coloured strip at the bottom which would advertise the artists inside the magazine.

 4. 4. CONTENTS PAGE

We decided to use a collage effect for our contents page using various photos we had taken.

PLANNING
 5. 5. PLANNING CONTENTS PAGE

At first we created the contents page above using coloured rectangles. After filling a few of the rectangles with our photos, we decided that we didn’t like it.

 6. 6. PLANNING CONTENTS PAGE

We then tried to recreate the coloured rectangles with empty polaroids and we decided to use this layout instead as it looked more professional.

 7. 7. DOUBLE PAGE SPREADS

We each chose a different layout for our double page spreads to showcase our individual creativity.

PLANNING
 8. 8. PLANNING SARAH

I chose to use the left hand page for my article and the right hand page for the images, as I found lots of magazines stuck to this layout. I chose to use a variety of black and white images to create a collage.

 9. 9. PLANNING ANTONIA

I wanted the photos on my double page spread to be the main focus of the pages, with the text framing the photo blend. Therefore I chose to have the photos quite central and large, yet I kept the text in columns to follow the generic conventions.

 10. 10. PLANNING LAUREN

I chose to use this layout as I wanted to show a lot of my photos. I also found out through our audience research that most people preferred this type of layout for their double page spreads.
