XAVIER Evaluation
Ways that our movie developed At the beginning of our movie our aim was to be different to every other movie and instead of making a man the antagonist we would make it a harmless little girl. But in the filming process we could not find a female to play the part of the girl so we changed it to a little boy. But we didn’t stop there we took it further and made his little teddy bear the antagonist. We accomplished that by making the little boy think that the bear was real and told him what to do.
we got the Idea for making it a evil little boy from a movie Halloween which had a little boy how was made fun of but he had a mental illness and ended up killing his parents an sister and brother and grow up to me a murder. We also copied the idea of the talking bear from little kids that have imaginary friend and how they believe its so real when there's actually nothing there.
Our setting is another thing we copied we made it in a house were scary movies normally take place. The reason the house setting is so scary is because it is supposed to be the were people relaxes an feel most comfortable. when a movie director disrupts that its unsettling an keeps the viewer on edge.
Social groups In our movie we used the typical stereotype of a ghetto family with the dad with grills in his teeth, the way they talked, and the way they cant express there emotions with out physically hitting someone. In the movie the characters are lower class people who don’t know how to take care of there son. You know this information when you see the mom and dad interact with the little boy there son. Representation of different social groups in our media product was a challenge as we had a child and having the concept of him killing his parents. The second reason is that the genre we decided to work with thriller meant that we had to stick to the representation of characters and make them very stereotypical
XAVIER is a 10 year old boy who has a little problem and that problem is he has a imaginary toy that tells him what to do. XAVIER thinks of the toy as his best friend and the toy tells him to do evil things such as kill his parents. The boy is mentally unstable and is smarty enough to commit the perfect murder an frame it on his parents.
Media institution I have researched institutions that make thriller movies and came out with a plethora of results but the institution that caught my eye most was universal studios. Reason being universal studios is one of the six major movie studio company. In 1925 it was known as universal pictures company inc. a few thrillers that universal had produced are the unborn, strangers and, stay alive movies.
The audience for the movie When we came up with the idea of our movie. At first we were going to have it very graphic an make it a 18+ movie but we decided to tone it down a little. So we changed it to 14 years old and up this way it would appeal to a lot more people with storyline that is easy to be understood and enjoyed. And my movie is available to any gender stereotype or class.
Attracting our audience The most important part of making a movie which is how to attract audience to the movie. I call it the most important part because what's the point of an amazing movie if no one watches it . We used a variety of ways to try attract and address the audience. Such as the questioner to find out what people would like to see in a scary movie and put it in.
What we learnt Well the technologies we learnt how to use was final cut on the I Mac we learnt to edit our films an make it in to exactly the way we pictured it. We also learnt how to use the camera and the tripod. Tripod to make each shot steady so it could make it perfect for each scene.
Reflecting I have learnt a lot producing my project one of the most important thing I learnt is planning. if you fail to plan you plan to fail and its true the more planning I made the easier the rest of my task came out to be. I felt the preliminary task was to get us acquainted with the system the cameras final cut and planning just al to get us ready for the thriller.
