EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hospital Management Business Case is aimed to provide a self-diagnosis for user staying far
from the hospital. The software product to be produced is a Hospital Management System
which will automate the major hospital operations. This application will be useful to the people
who are far away from the hospitals and the patients can get treatment when the doctor is not
available in hospital also.
PROBLEM DEFINATION:-
Lack of immediate retrievals: The information is very difficult to retrieve
and to find particular information like- E.g. - To find out about the patient’s
history, the user has to go through various registers. This results in inconvenience
and wastage of time.
Lack of immediate information storage: The information generated by
various transactions takes time and efforts to be stored at right place.
Lack of prompt updating: Various changes to information like patient
details or immunization details of child are difficult to make as paper work is
involved.
Error prone manual calculation: Manual calculations are error prone and
take a lot of time this may result in incorrect information. For example
calculation of patient’s bill based on various treatments.
Preparation of accurate and prompt reports: This becomes a difficult
task as information is difficult to collect from various registers.
ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION:-
This system will be helpful to the people who are busy with their professional work. Because,
they can get doctor suggestions through online and can share their problems with doctor. The
self-diagnosis feature helps the patient for taking medicine without consulting the doctor. But,
it can provide treatment up to some level that means rectifiable diseases without doctor
suggestion with some dosage of tablets.
For an example suppose the patient has suffered from fever, first he has to enter his disease.
Then the application will have to pose some symptoms regarding that disease, those symptoms
are answered by the patient. We can provide suggestions to some resistible diseases that mean
rectifiable problems by some medicines.
This may be useful to the patients who are in far distance from hospital and to the doctors also
to interact with patients in or out of the hospital. Administrator can update medicines in
database frequently. We can facilitate a suggestion box to the patients to improve my
application.

All the medicines information is stored in the database tables for each disease, as well as
symptoms also maintained in the tables. Details of doctors and patients will be maintained in
the tables. The software will be having security functions to keep the user’s record safely.
Hospital management application will be made available for any users. The availability of the
software will be 24/7 hrs. This alternative is chosen because of unavailability of hospitals near
residential area and for a cost efficient treatment.
USER-FRIENDLY:-
There is no need of being technically expertise to use the software. A person having basic
knowledge of computer can use the software. User just need to register once and can use the
services without any kind of inconvenience.
COST EFFICIENT:-
The cost of using this software will be minimal as it will be used by the people staying in
remote area and urban area. Using this software will save the doctoral fees and extra charges
that are above the reach of common people.
TIME EFFICIENT:-
This has been discovered that many people have to wait for long in scheduling appointment
with the doctors, but this problem is also solved by our software. User don’t need appointment
to meet the doctors, they can directly discuss their problem with doctor in our online discussion
forum or can send their queries.

TRUSTED:-
Many times it is analyzed that there are fake doctors or the doctors without any certificate are
cheating their patients. Our software is providing a numerous certified, trusted and experienced
team of doctors.
INTRODUCTION
This system can be helpful to the hospital management, because it consists of patient billing
system from the time of admission in the hospital. Patient billing means the payment for the
doctor, dispensaries, medicines and staff. This application useful to the people who are far
away from the hospitals and the patients can get treatment when the doctor not available in
hospital also.
BACKGROUND:-
A Hospital is a place where patients come up for general diseases. Hospitals provide
facilities like:-
Consultation by Doctors on Diseases.
Diagnosis for diseases.
Providing treatment facility.
Facility for admitting Patients (providing beds, nursing, medicines etc.)
Immunization for Patients/Children.
CURRENT SITUATION:-
Currently there is low availability of hospitals and medical centers in the rural areas. People
have to move from one place to another in search of a good treating hospital. There is a need
of cost efficient hospitals as the people can afford them. The current situation can be handled
by our software as it will be a sand alone system.
Hospital management system created the computerized hospital environment by eliminating
the manual work by the staff. This system can be helpful to the hospital management. The
existed system only helps the hospital management but is not useful to the patient out of the
hospital or remote areas. So, the existed system did not prove to be useful to the normal people.

Like these type of queries user may have to answer. The application itself will have intensity
levels for each query, based on the intensity levels it will suggest medicines.

ALTERNATIVES
ALTERNATIVE 1:
An app is made of the HMS software. The end users can use this alternative while travelling
or in emergency. The app will contain basic functions like self-diagnosis and medicine
prescription. This app will be free and no registration is required for the users having login with
the product.
ALTERNATIVE 2:
Mobile number of the consulting doctors will be provided for emergencies. In case of there is
patient in serious condition then he can contact their respective physician or doctors.
ANALYSIS OF ALTERNATIVES:-
This system (HMS) provides online diagnosis, retrieval and updating facility. This system
provides very less paper work and everything is stored electronically. Information can be
retrieved very easily without searching into registers.
Alternative 1 will bring the attraction of majority of people as nowadays 90% of the people
stay connected with their mobiles.
Alternative 2 will make the users more secure especially for the handicapped and the old age
people. But there will be a fine of $50 in case of unnecessary calls.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD:-
Group discussion is conducted in order to collect data and to plan about
resources that will be used in HMS software.
Surveys are conducted to know the action of end people that are going to
use this software.
Interviews of doctors and various business analyst.
Questioners are also used to enhance our software with some other features
and suggestions.

Performance metric is being used in the Hospital Management System. The objective of this
metric is to measure productivity of resources involved in project and let PM assess over or
under-utilization cases.
Utilization% = Total Effort spent by resource/Total Budgeted Effort for the resource
Budgeted effort is the planned billable work of resource. Any over-utilization and under-
utilization indicated by this metric has an impact on the project’s profitability.
