1. Act It Out: Going through all of the motions of an experiment

2. Simulation: A model of a situation where trials are carried
out, using a simple experiment to represent something
more complex; This could be done by using a coin flip,
    spinner, dice, cards, etc.

Example 1
Matt Mitarnowski has a batting average of .250. Design and run
a simulation for his next ten at bats. Record your results. What is
the probability that Matt gets exactly 3 hits?
Example 1
Matt Mitarnowski has a batting average of .250. Design and run
a simulation for his next ten at bats. Record your results. What is
the probability that Matt gets exactly 3 hits?

Sample simulation: Use a spinner with 4 sections. Spinning a 1
is a hit, while 2, 3, and 4 are all not hits. Spin the spinner 10
                  times and record the outcomes.

You need to run the situation multiple times to get the probability.

Run your simulation 25 times. Results will vary.

  • 12. Example 1 Matt Mitarnowski has a batting average of .250. Design and run a simulation for his next ten at bats. Record your results. What is the probability that Matt gets exactly 3 hits?
  • 13. Example 1 Matt Mitarnowski has a batting average of .250. Design and run a simulation for his next ten at bats. Record your results. What is the probability that Matt gets exactly 3 hits? Sample simulation: Use a spinner with 4 sections. Spinning a 1 is a hit, while 2, 3, and 4 are all not hits. Spin the spinner 10 times and record the outcomes.
  • 14. You need to run the situation multiple times to get the probability.
  • 15. You need to run the situation multiple times to get the probability. Run your simulation 25 times. Results will vary.
