1. The Great Gatsby Daffodil Ball 2009
Sponsorship Opportunities
The Great Daffodil Ball has been held in Glasgow for 19 years and has grown to become one of
Glasgow’s biggest charity events; in 2008 over 550 guests enjoyed a fabulous night which raised
£120,000. This year’s ball will be even bigger and better, glitzier and more glamorous, raising money
for the Big Build Appeal, building a much needed new Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow. The ball will
be promoted by media partners and headline sponsors Smooth FM, and the Evening Times.
The Theme
The Great Gatsby; set in the “Jazz Age” during the economic boom of the roaring 1920s, prohibition
made millionaires out of bootleggers and led to an increase in organised crime. Capturing the
glamour of the speakeasy, flapper girls and charleston style, guests will enjoy optional 1920’s dress,
gourmet food, live themed entertainment, a thrilling casino and celebrity host Bryan Burnett. This will
be an exclusive night of sophisticated fun.

The Big Build
The Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow has provided care to over 32,000 cancer patients and their
families in the last 32 years. We offer modern palliative care which promotes quality of life including:
in-patient and out-patient services, complementary therapy, physiotherapy, family support services,
bereavement care and much more. Sadly our current building no longer meets our own high
standards or those required by law and we would like to build the hospice Glasgow deserves. This
modern, purpose built facility will cost £16million and to date we have raised £11 million. The Great
Gatsby Daffodil Ball 2009 will add to this amount making our dream of a new Marie Curie Hospice in
Glasgow a reality.
