To our Dearest Supporters:
Pony Bird is about to “Spreads Its Wings”- again! Our loved ones with special needs have grown, aged, and like us all, require a higher level of
medical care. Their families increasingly need help and temporary relief in their care. To expand our services for our “Family of Special Ones,”
Pony Bird is undertaking a $1.8 million expansion program. Construction and renovation is scheduled to begin in 2015.
What will this mean for those who need Pony Bird?
MORE AVAILABLE RESPITE CARE – As our Special Ones grow, it becomes more difficult for a parent
to physically care for a child safely. In the past, Pony Bird has provided home caregivers a safe haven in
which to place their loved one for a brief respite of a few days, a weekend, or even longer when needed.
Due to the demands for residential care, Pony Bird’s ability to provide this has been limited in recent
years. Our “Spreads Its Wings” expansion will change that by providing three added rooms dedicated to
respite care. More families can then place their loved one at Pony Bird while they take a much-needed
break.
NEW HOMES – Two six-bed homes will be constructed in De Soto
on donated land, close to our two existing homes. This will mean greater space for important treatments and
therapies for our individuals who are currently living in crowded and no longer acceptable conditions. These
homes will include private bedrooms, living space, a kitchen and dining room. Construction of the homes
will take advantage of existing utilities, roads and service buildings already in place.
What can you do to help Pony Bird’s Family of Special Ones?
You have demonstrated your real generosity before so we ask you again, to please consider a contribution to our “Pony Bird Spreads Its Wings”
Capital Campaign. In our 37 years of providing quality care to non-ambulatory persons of all ages with significant intellectual and physical
disabilities, this is our greatest expansion endeavor. The proposed expansion and increased services will fill a need not just for the Pony Bird family,
but the surrounding community as well.
Please also help us by spreading the word of our needs to your family, friends and neighbors, asking them to help Pony Bird provide a better quality
of life to those we serve.
Real generosity toward the future lies in giving kindly to the present.
Please use the enclosed envelope to send in your donation or go to www.ponybird.org and hit the Donate tab to send your gift. For more
information see Pony Bird’s website or call us at 636-931-5818.
