2. Survey responses; Question one: Gender?
The responses were that 3/8 people that took the
survey were male, and 5/8 were female. This helps me
produce my magazine because I will target it at
females instead of males because of the results of
question one.
3. Survey Responses; Question two: Age?
The responses to this question were that 1/8 people
that took the survey were in keystage 3, 2/8 were in
keystage 4 and 5/8 were in keystage 5. This helps me to
produce my magazine because the majority of people
were in keystage 5, so my magazine will target a more
mature audience.
4. Survey Responses; Question three: Favourite Genre?
The responses to this question were varied
because I left it as an open question so that
they people taking the survey had more choice
on what they wanted to select. From the results
2/8 people like hiphop music, 1/8 likes Indie
music, 1/8 likes all music, 1/8 likes metal music,
1/8 likes R ‘n’ B music, 1/8 likes pop/rock music
and 1/8 likes rock music. I have decided to
group these together so that it is easier to
choose the genre for my magazine. I have
grouped hiphop with R ‘n’ B, and metal, rock
and pop. This means that my results are that
3/8 people like hiphop/R ‘n’ B, 1/8 likes Indie
music, 1/8 likes all music and 3/8 likes
Metal/Rock/Pop. It is hard to decide which
genre to choose now because there is the same
number of results for two categories. However,
I have decided to produce a hiphop/R ‘n’ B
magazine because they are very similar kinds of
music so overall I think that category got the
largest vote.
5. Survey Responses; Question four: How much are you willing to pay for a magazine?
I expected the results for this
question to vary like question three
because I also left this as an open
question. However, the results were
all between £2-£5. 5/8 of the
results had £3 included in their
answer so therefore I have decided
to pitch my magazine at about £3.
6. Survey Responses; Question five: What mode of address do you prefer?
The responses for question 5 were that 3/8 people preferred
a formal mode of address and 5/8 people preferred a
informal mode of address. These results have helped me
decide what mode of address to have with my magazine
because I will choose the majority vote which is informal.
7. Survey Responses; Question six: How often do you buy magazines?
The responses from this question show that 1/8 people buy
magazines weekly, 3/8 buy them fortnightly and 4/8 people buy
them monthly. This will help me produce my magazine because
I have now decided that I will produce my magazine to be a
monthly issue, this means it will contain a lot of information
that will cover a month.
8. Simple Font styles.
Fonts are used to attract the reader of the chosen target audience by the magazine company.
Magazines and newspapers combine serif and sans serif fonts on one page, i.e. serif fonts for body
text, sans serif for headlines or captions.

20. Production Plan.
- I will take my photos in a quiet location and in a way that shows what type of
magazine it is advertising.
- The props I will use are clothing that represents a hip-hop magazine and a plain
background.
- The photos I take will be a variation of long shots and medium close ups.
- The equipment I need will be a camera and a camera stand.
- The photos will be taken on 30th December 2011.
21. Institutions.
- IPC Media produce 60 media brands which print 2/3 for women and 42%
of men. IPC media print for almost 26 million adults in the UK.
- IPC have a very diverse print and digital portfolio which focuses on three
specific audiences; men, mass market women and upmarket women.
- The men’s portfolio of magazines have a wide range of leisure brands
including: Country Life, Horse & Hound, Rugby World and Decanter, as
well as lifestyle brands including Nuts, Mousebreaker and NME.
- The mass market women's category produces famous women's weeklies
including Look, Now, Chat and Woman; TV entertainment brands
including What's on TV, TV Times and TV & Satellite Week and the
goodtoknow network.
- The women’s upmarket category also produce a wide range of fashion
brands including: Marie Claire and In Style, lifestyle brands including
woman & home and essentials and home interest brands including Ideal
Home and housetohome.
22. Pitch.
- My research and planning has shown that I will produce a hip-hop magazine
mainly targeted at girls in key stage 5 and it will be an informal magazine. It will
also be released monthly.
- I found that hip-hop magazines are quite funky and that the photos stand out
more than the text. The main article title is on the front cover and a few stand
firsts are used.
- My magazine will be successful because I will follow how a hip-hop magazine is
produced so make it look more professional.
