5. Heat Transfer
The science that deals with the
determination of the rates of such energy
transfers due to non-equilibrium of
temperature is Heat Transfer.
6. How heat is transferred?
There are three modes of HeatTransfer.
Which are:
1. CONDUCTION
2. CONVECTION
3. RADIATION
8. Conduction:
It is the mode of heat transfer from high
energetic particles to low energetic
particles of the same substance.
It can take place in solids, liquids and
gases.
It requires direct physical contact.
9. CONDUCTION OF HEAT
ALONG COMPOSITE BAR
The apparatus which is used to measure
the conduction of heat.

12. PROCEDURE:
Select an intermediate position for the
heater power control.
Allow sufficient time for a steady state
condition to be achieved before recording
the temperature ( T ) at all the four
sensor points.
The input power reading on the
wattmeter ( Q ).
13. This procedure should be repeated for
other input powers up to the maximum
setting of the control.
After each change, sufficient time must be
allowed to achieve steady state
conditions.
14. DESCRIPTION
Thermal conduction is the mode of heat
transfer, which occurs in a material by
virtue of temperature gradient. A solid is
chosen for the demonstration of pure
conduction since both liquids and gases
exhibit excessive convective heat transfer.
