The document discusses how the creator designed three products - a documentary and two print texts - to work together effectively. They used consistent color schemes, fonts, and content across the products to visually and thematically link them and ensure the audience recognized they were all about the same topic of social networking. This was meant to help capture audience interest in the documentary and increase its viewing figures by providing complementary information and context through the interrelated products.

How Combining Products Boosts Documentary Views
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION
OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
2. It was important for me to create three products
which looked consistent so my target audience
would be able to recognise that they linked together
and were all about the same thing.
This would in turn help members of my target
audience remember my products and the
documentary they are about. Thus increasing the
viewing figures for the documentary.
6. COLOUR SCHEME
Consistent throughout products
Pantone colour 7455C
This colour scheme helped connotate the of social
networking.
The bright colours used will help the audience link
the products together visually.
7. FONTS
Fonts Arial and OCR Std A used throughout
products
Print products used same typography (italics and
bold) formatting.
This again helps link the products together visually.
8. CONTENT
Same information provided about documentary
throughout products. For example, air time and
date of the documentary.
The content and facts about social networking are
consistent throughout the three products.
This helps make sure that the reader doesn't get
mislead or confused by the different products
providing different information.
9. PURPOSE
The purpose of the two print ancillary tasks was to
help capture the readers interest in my
documentary and share the basic information about
the documentary (air date and time, topic etc. )
They would therefore act as inter-textual products
to provide deeper understanding into the
documentary.
The print tasks help set the mood of the
documentary as modern, which is shown through
the colour scheme, so the readers know what to
expect when they watch the documentary.
10. CONCLUSION
The consistency within the texts helps the audience
become aware of the topic of social networking and
makes the products look like they are about the same
thing.
The colour scheme has especially helped me achieve
this as this is the feature which stands out the most
throughout my texts.
Members of my target audience would therefore be able
to link these products together because of the FaceBook
blue used. Therefore making them easily recognisable.
I therefore think that the combination of the three
products is very effective and that the three texts link
well in a inter-textual sense.
