Acts 10b don't be bound by tradition and custom

  1. 1. Pure Heart will be Leading worship Sunday morning at 11:00 Concert Sunday night February 12 at 7:00 PM www.rossvillechurch.com781 Salem Road, Rossville, GA 30741 1
  2. 2. Acts 10 Cornelius was a Roman Centurion An angel came to Cornelius from God. Cornelius sought God, and God found Him.All who seek the True God will find Him. 2
  3. 3. 7-8 And when the angel whichspake unto Cornelius wasdeparted, he called two of hishousehold servants, and adevout soldier of them thatwaited on him continually; And when he had declared Acts 10 2 A devout man, and one that feared Godall these things unto them, he with all his house, sent them to Joppa. which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. 3
  4. 4. Even his servants and military aides followed his example in fearing and serving the true God.It speaks well of a man when those closest to him admire him and follow his example. 4
  5. 5. Cornelius sentthese three men to find Peter 33 miles south along the coast. 5
  6. 6. 9-10On the morrow, asthey went on their jour-ney, and drew nigh untothe city, Peter went upupon the housetop to prayabout the sixth hour (noon):And he became very hun-gry, and would haveeaten: but while theymade ready, he fell into atrance, (spiritual dream) 6
  7. 7. 11-13 And saw Heaven opened, and a certain vesseldescending unto him, as ithad been a great sheet knit atthe four corners, and let downto the earth: wherein were allmanner of four-footed beastsof the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, andfowls of the air. And therecame a Voice to him, Rise,Peter; kill, and eat. 7
  8. 8. 14-16But Peter said, Not so,Lord; for I have never eatenanything that is common orunclean. And the Voicespake unto him again thesecond time, What Godhath cleansed, that call notthou common. This was Three timesdone thrice: and the vesselwas received up again intoHeaven. 8
  9. 9. 17-18 Nowwhile Peter doubted in himself (he wasconfused and perplexed) what this vision which hehad seen should mean, behold, the men which weresent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simonshouse, and stood before the gate, and called, andasked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. 9
  10. 10. 19-20 While Peter thought on thevision, the Spirit said unto him,Behold, three men seek thee.Arise therefore, and get theedown, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I havesent them. The Hand of God is moving to bring salvation to one sincere man seeking God, and to the Gentiles as a people. 10
  11. 11. If Peter thought that he knew anything, it was that Jews were Gods chosen, and everyone else was rejected. Is it any wonder that he was perplexed? 11
  12. 12. Sometimes we must turn loose of old opinions and open ourselves to new ideas.Im not talking about 12
  13. 13. Just because Grandma did things a certain way, Doesnt mean we always must do things that way.Lets be open to any way that God chooses to move our church and our lives. 13
