4. 1 Sam 9:18 ThenSaul drew near to Samuel in the gate,
and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's
house is. And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am
the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for
ye shall eat with me today, and tomorrow I will let
thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.
Eat with me today, and I will answer
all your questions tomorrow.

5. We have to be willing to wait on God's answer to
our questions, our needs, or for understanding.
God always has the answers that we need,
And He has the right person to help us.
What God says do.
5
6. 20 And as for thine asses that
were lost three days ago, set not
thy mind on them; for they are
found. And on whom is all the
desire of Israel? Is it not on thee,
and on all thy father's house?
Saul set out to find his daddy's donkeys, and the man of
God said, "They are found."
But he found much more:
He found a kingdom. 6
7. We never know what God may bring our way,
when we are faithfully doing the day to day things
that are our lot in life.
1 Be where you are supposed to be,
Doing what you are supposed to do.
7
8. Secondly -- guard your mindset and attitude.
Be always ready to respond to
God-given opportunities.
8
9. 21 And Saul answered and said, Am not I a
Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel?
and my family the least of all the families of the
tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so
to me?
We don't know, but it may have been.
We know his daddy was rich and influential,
but that doesn't mean Saul was arrogant.
9
10. 22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and
brought them into the parlor, and made them sit in
the chiefest place among them that were bidden,
which were about thirty persons. 23 And Samuel
said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave
thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.
God had told Samuel that Saul was coming.
He made preparations.
10
11. 24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that
which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And
Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before
thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept
for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So
Saul did eat with Samuel that day.
"Behold that which is left"
"This is what I have set aside for you,
since I invited the people."
11
12. This was not a feast that Saul happened to come to.
Samuel had planned this feast especially for Saul.
O how we need to learn to know and trust the
Voice of our Lord.
God spoke in Samuel's ear and told him that
the king the people wanted was coming.
Samuel immediately prepared for him.
12
13. 25 And when they were come down from the high
place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul
upon the top of the house.
Samuel had already told Saul that he was
chosen to be the first king of Israel.
I have no doubt that Saul had many questions.
13
14. 26 And they arose early: and it came to pass about
the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the
top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee
away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of
them, he and Samuel, abroad.
Even though they had no doubt talked late into
the night up on the roof,
They woke up early, and went outside just at
daybreak.
14
15. 27 And as they were going down to the end of the
city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on
before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a
while, that I may shew thee the Word of God.
Now the details of God's Plan to make Saul king.
"But stand thou still a while, that I may shew
thee the Word of God."
15
16. If we are going to hear God's Voice and receive His
instruction, we must sometimes get still.
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
In this busy world, it is often
hard to make time to get still
before God and listen to Him.
16
17. Maybe find a quiet place in
nature to sit before God.
Singing in joy to the Lord.
17
18. Samuel was the final judge of Israel, and in
demanding a king the people were rejecting God,
But also rejecting God's man -- Samuel.
Samuel would no longer be the
leader of the nation.
Yet we see no evidence of envy or jealousy.
18
19. Are you willing to step back or step down and
help someone else do the Will of God?
To help is one of the gifts of the
Holy Ghost.
To get the job done, we must all
help one another.
