1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing the process?
‘BOOM’ Magazine
2. At the start of this project I had never used Blogger before and now I feel
very confident with it. It is easy to use, easy to edit the layout and simple to
change the order that all my posts were presented. Through using Blogger, I
discovered how to upload j.peg images, embed YouTube videos as well as
making hyperlinks to other pages and embedding different presentation
widgets I had used.
I had used Photoshop prior to beginning this task, although I was never
confident and didn’t know what each feature was in detail. It has simple
tools, such as the ‘spot healing tool’ which was useful when editing the
images I used in depth. It was easy to insert the images I required from
iPhoto, with me being able to have all the documents I needed open to
ensure that I had a fluent house style throughout my magazine. Editing and
inserting text was straight-forward, especially installing fonts I had found
online (dafont.com) that I wanted to use at the click of a button.
I had an account of YouTube before so I did not need to create a new
account, although I had never uploaded any videos of my work. After
learning to upload various clips to my channel, I began to learn that I could
annotate my videos on YouTube itself which I had exported from iMovie. I
then learnt how to embed videos onto my blog, discovering that I could select
different sizes for the presentation to be shown as.
3. Before beginning this project, I had also never used iMovie before. I managed
to download it onto my iPad and played around with different clips and
edits, discovering that there were many templates to work with. I didn’t use
iMovie whilst creating my production piece, however I created a small video
discussing the feedback I had received from my audience. I found it was easy
to import clips and export finished items to YouTube then furthermore onto
my blog.
SnackTools is an online widget I used to create slideshows and flip-books to
present any research or feedback I had collected. I had never used slidesnack
or flipsnack and I found that slidesnack was easier to use. When using flip-
snack you had to change your files to PDF’s and presenting it in a way that
looked clear and professional proved to be a challenge. I also used Prezi to
create mind-maps which looked aesthetically pleasing. It took a lot of
patience to master but I discovered you could use different themes, fonts and
could also import images.
Twitter, iTunes and Spotify are largely used to share musician's music to as
wide as an audience as possible. Advertising on these types of media is an
effective way to promote products and gain brand awareness as it targets a
large range of people. On iTunes and Spotify you can view what songs and
artists fall into a certain genre, which helped to distinguish the kind of songs
that my target market would listen to.
