Initial ideas

  1. 1. Initial Ideas and Feedback Charlotte Shaw
  2. 2. Idea 1British Classics/ Afternoon Tea,Would be targeted at the older generation and bringing them closer to ideas and foods surrounding vegetarianfoods, possibly taking ideas from garden party/jubliee celebrations, giving it a sense of community and thesefoods bringing people together. The recipes will be made by ourselves and photographed by use to, as we feelthat we can do a good enough standard, and the key aspect to this will be the presentations and making surethey look professional, high quality foods. When creating these images we could luck including props andextras in the photographs to make it more suitable for the theme such as teacups and old china, checkedfabrics and hampers. As the ideas would be based around British foods we would look in incorporate the 3patriotic colours of red, white and blue. The types of food that we will to include I our recipes will be bothsavoury and sweet, including homemade vegetarian sandwiches, salads and finger food. On the sweet side wewould luck to include cakes, biscuits and desserts.
  3. 3. Feedback 1What do you like about the idea?I like that the food will help bring more people together like a community. Byusing a theme e.g. Jubilee it will help to inspire people when they are cookingor making the products. By having the red, blue and white theme I think it willreally go well with the British theme. This idea is also good as it incorporatesdifferent food products which will meet everyone’s needs. What areas of the idea could be developed?Properly say how you are going to make the products and how you willpresent them to the right target audience. Also specify which age group thiskind of theme would go with e.g. family or couples etc. What do you find interesting about the idea?I find it interesting how the British foods link well with the royal family andhow they have influenced the way great Britain works. It adds culture andmore excitement to the product.
  4. 4. Idea 2• Quick meals made easy for busy studentsThese types of recipes would be created for younger generation and for those at university or college, becauseas students they want something that is quick and cheap to make, which I something that we would aim tocreate. As well as been tasty it would also be nutritious, to keep fit and healthy. The types of colours that wewould look to corporate would be lots of bright colours to make it attractive and stand out for those on the go.As well as using a strong influence of green to reflect the vegetarian nature of the food chosen. These cards willnot be gender specific so making sure that they appear to both male and female in the colours, photography adpresentation of the recipes cards will be key. These cards will also include helpful tips and guidance, as well asother opinion of things to try with the recipe which will work well for students as they can easily change theseasonings and flavour, to make a slight difference. These tips could be cu away from the recipe cards in a diecut to give this extra information. The types of food that will be included will all be savoury style foods, withfoods from quick pizzas, noodles and salads.
  5. 5. Feedback 2What do you like about the idea? This is a good idea because students don’t have much money at all so to giveguidance and recipe to students it will really help them to be healthier and onthe right path to a balanced diet. The layout sounds great by having brightcolours but not gender related, this is good as it will fit to everyone’s tastes. What areas of the idea could be developed?Probably think of ways to advertise to that audience, e.g. radio as lots ofyoung people listen to that in their spare time or in shops where you couldleave leaflets about how to keep healthy etc. What do you find interesting about the idea? The interesting part is that the foods are quite known to be fatty and notgood for you, this would normally appeal to students because it’s quick andeasy foods. By having a healthier version it means they can have the foodsthey want but nicer and healthier.
  6. 6. Idea 3• Food made easy for children to get involved withFrom a young age children like to learn and do new things, so creating recipes that both parent and child cando together is a fun and interactive way for then to learn and develop there skills and get them tasting andtouching new things. As a recipe card suited for the younger generation having some sort of mascot will helpthe child to follow the recipe and could branch out into other products in the future encouraging children to trynew foods. The colours for this type of recipe card would use bright colour scheme following the main primarycolours which will help to make it eye catching and stand out and for younger children they will be able to pickout these key colours, when it comes to the presentation it could be made to look like it is written on linedpaper which would help make it topical and appropriate. These recipe cards would be suitable for both thesummer and winter months, with products such as ice lollies make from fruit, and different cakes and biscuitsdecorated in different ingredients and shapes. These recipe cards will also include safety precautions andthings to be weary of when it comes to cooking and cutting. These recipe cards may also include mixed mediawhen it comes to putting the different elements together to make these cards look more creative and child likethe title of reach recipe card could also be achieved in mixed media too. However, the photography will beneed when it comes to giving a step by step instructions of what to do, by showing a photograph of each stepwhich will also help to illustrate each step.
  7. 7. Feedback 3What do you like about the idea? The colour scheme is a good way to get the childs attention but not distractthem enough to draw attention away from the food and ingredients. Themascot is the perfect way to get the child involved and encourage them to eathealthier. What areas of the idea could be developed? Not much information about the layout of the card or the little details like thefont type. What do you find interesting about the idea? The mixed media element. It could be a bit of a messing thing to have in apreparation area but it will get the children interested in the card and itscontent.
  8. 8. Idea 4• Becoming a vegetarianThese recipes will be created for those that are thinking of becoming a vegetarian, showing some basic recipes that they could think of using, as well as including some small facts and figures about vegetarians. There will be no finalised idea the target market as it could be targeted at any one from teenager years to adults or the older generation
  9. 9. Feedback 4What do you like about the idea? The cards are educational to non vegetarians and helps to advertise the ideaof becoming apart of the vegetarian society. The idea of having facts andfigures on the card can help to educate the public about vegetarianism. What areas of the idea could be developed? The idea is very vague, needs some more detail about colours and layout. What do you find interesting about the idea? The target audience is so large, it can be quite hard to appeal to a largenumber of people at the same time but because the audience is so large therecipes and colours used can be vary and it can be easier to produce the cardsif they are basic.
  10. 10. Idea 5• meals for oneTheses recipe cards will include a variety of different savoury and sweet foods, from around the world, such as Italian, Chinese and Indian, with each recipe cards having a different theme to it surrounding that type of food. These cards will be aimed at those in a place of work, and can be adapted for lunch and evening meals. As it will be targeting adults the presentation will be created to look elegant and classy as the people that are likely to be interested in these types of recipe cards could be business men and women or busy working students for those on the go.
  11. 11. Feedback 5What do you like about the idea?Using different foods from around the world. A wide range of cuisines can be veryappealing and interesting. The idea of making the meals adaptable for lunch ortea/dinner is a good idea. I doesn’t limit the audience to what they can produce.Aiming it for meals to take to work can help people eat healthier as they mostlytake ready meals or get fast food. It can also help people save money. What areas of the idea could be developed? The type of font used needs to be added and a bit more detail about themeals/recipes. Also what type of images will you use? Photographs or sketchesetc. What do you find interesting about the idea?Appealing to the single people/meals for one. A lot of recipe cards are for 2 ormore and the person would have to divide the amount of ingredients they needand make a note before making the meal so having a recipe that they don’t haveto do any maths to get the right portion is great!
  12. 12. Summary of FeedbackWhat do you agree with from your feedback?I feel that the feedback for all 5 of my ideas was well received and have helped me todevelop my ideas future in order to create something more accurate for the targetmarket, something that popped up a lot was what types of font that I will use for therecipe cards, so this detail needs to be included most likely to be in a sans serif font asit is easier and clearer to read for all ages from young to old. Possibly looking intowhat effects I can include to the recipe cards once finished such as laminates, diecutting and embossing to make them look more interesting and expensive. What do you disagree with from your feedback? When reading into my feedback from other members of my group I feel that most ofmy feedback was positive and shows ways of improving which I take onboard. However, when talking about including mixed media for the recipe card and title pageof idea 3 it would then get laminated which would restrict the amount of messespecially when made to be wiped clean when working with children. Another aspectis disagree with is from idea 2 and the use of adverting via the radio, as I feel thatadvertising doesn’t need to be taken as strongly into consideration but if so usingsocial network sites to link to those students and people at work.
  13. 13. Idea EvaluationWhich idea that you came up with is your favourite and why?Out of the 5 ideas I have created I feel most happy with my third idea which arevegetarian recipes that are aimed for children and there parents and so it can be seenas learning tool used at home and school. I also like the use of the mascot to tie andformulate all my ideas together, which also makes children more eger to learn newthings as they will pick up different skills, and been able to learn new things andfoods, but overall feel happy with the amount of detail I have put into this initial idea.Which idea, that your team came up with, is your favourite and why? From reading ideas from other members of the group, I feel that the idea surroundingfamily meals is also a strong idea too as It combines recipes that are suitable and canbe adapted for different ages from the young to old within the family unit. I also likedthe fact that the recipe cards would be laminated making them durable and wipeclean while in the kitchen. this idea also looks at including helpful tips and guidancewhether this is to adapt the original recipe or the ingredients and presentation ofthese foods, and so making some cards for vegetarians that target the family marketis popular in the current market and these recipes need to be long lasting and cheapto make.
