The Right Mindset
If you have not been
investing all this while, you
may be missing out some
great opportunities in your
lifetime. With the interest
rate going at a historical low
for a prolonged period since
World War II, just by putting
our money in a very highly
liquid state would only see
our money eaten by this
undefeatable beast call

The Right Mindset
To be fair, many people know
that investment is the key to
growing our wealth, but very
few people take the necessary
action to invest wisely due to
fear. The fear factor is far too
strong to impede them from
making serious independent
decisions to invest for the long
term.
Inflation. With the inflation
rate going at 4-5% per year,
and with the bank interest
rate at all time low of about
0.1 to 0.5% at the point of
writing, we are, in effect,
losing out at a rate of about
4.5% of our money value to
inflation every year.

The Right Mindset
The fear factor on each
individual varies significantly
and far in between. Some of us
procrastinate, some of us
choose to look for advices,
some of us take micro-steps
despite having a lot of cash in
the bank and some of us
simply wait by the sideline in
hope for another crash to
come.

The Right Mindset
And when the crash did come,
usually after a long wait of
several years, some of us
again procrastinate. We hope
to see the crash going even
lower so that we can pick up
the investment at the lowest
point.
Yes, there was a lowest
point, but by the time we
realized it, it had already
gone way past us and we
‘missed the boat’ once
again. Sound familiar,
right? How many times
have you encountered this?
What really was the
problem?

The Right Mindset
The problem is that we are
just human beings. Our
tolerance for losses is
indeed very low. We want
all our investments to win.
Unfortunately, this cannot
be the case in reality. Ask
any chess player if he has
ever lost in the game of
chess before and the
answer is a definite yes.

The Right Mindset
Even Garry Kasporav, who is
rated to be the best chess
player today, had been
defeated before. In fact, in
1997, he was defeated by the
IBM’s software called Deep
Blue.
Hence, to be successful in
investments, we need to take
some risks. As long as our
gains from the investments
turn out to be higher than the
losses, we have probably
made a decent investment.
Only with this mindset, can
we then take the first step
towards investing.

The Right Mindset
Procrastination means taking a longer time to achieve
our goals and putting our success further down the road.
