technology used to communicate and present information to students
Incorporating the use of technology in the English language classroom in an appropriate and
innovative way
information and communication technologies are at the heart of many educational systems
nowadays, and there a lot of countries that had re-thought the methodology and had incorporated
technology as a tool for learning. However, there is a big step between the technologies used for
communication and the application of these ones to a learning tool. It reflects a challenge for
teachers who need to train in the field so as to employ 2.0 web in everyday classes.
Teaching and learning through technology.
Take advantage of the new technologies in order to aplly them in the classroom. It is an innovative
teaching approach that can be motivating for our students.
*Collaborative learning
Solving an activity working together
Cooperating and learning together
Learning by helping each other and by working all together at the same time, (for example by using
google drive tools).
learning through group work and helping andbeing helped by our partners
Learning all together, not only from a specific source, but also from one another.
Learning with fellow classmates thanks to websites which allow live editing, and learning thanks to
others' work.
Using the web 2.0 encourage students to work with their classmates and with the teacher's help as
well as using the internet and its countless sites to gather updated information and material for
learning.
Learning together, engaging in common tasks as a group.
It is an educational approach that gives learners the chance to take advantage of today`s varied and
abundant learning opportunities in multiple contexts.
*Connected Learning
e-learning
Learning everywhere at everytime.
Learning together with other persons even if not physically together
Ubiquitous learning. It is everywhere and it is facilitated by the presence of technology and the
Internet.
Linked activities for all to learn and ben
learning as well as socializing by means of web 2.0
Learning by using today's techonology. It promotes producing actively, creating, designing , and
working collaboratively, while using digital and online tools.
Learning not only at schools but also at home and work. Connected learning can foster participation
among teachers, parents and learners. It is an educational approach designed to our changing
world where the digital age prevails.

3 - Consider your own shift, as student, future teacher and/or teacher, into an Innovative
Teaching Approach
*Possible application in WEB2.0 tools in the classroom
~ The tools we were provided with have an innumerable number of activities to be applied on. Its
application will depend on the possibilities of each school of having the tools like computers
and internet connection. In my opinion that is going to be the only condition to be applied at
school.
~ I think that one of the fundamental aspects to take into account when teaching is to innovate.
Adopting original and diverse methodologies for teaching and learning is really favourable for
both, students and teachers,. I think it is the best way of increasing students’ motivation and
their willingness to work and to acquire new knowledge.
~ As a teacher there are several uses I could make of the available tools on the Internet. I think I
would mainly make use of the web's tools to present exercises like for example making a
webquest for students to learn in an engaging way about any topic proposed or that they
themselves can think of.
Also I would use it to present to my students information or some general explanations related
to the topic studied. It would differ from the usual oral explanation with aid of the blackboard
and I believe it would be more appealing to students as well.
In addition, I would make use of the pages that ffer several visual resources to develop lessons
and exercices from that. And I would not only teach structures and words but raise awareness
on relevvant matters for my students' life.
~ Most of the websites we saw are very useful to look for information or to create a
presentation/ an activity. Websites such as "www.picadilo.com", "www.slides.com",
"www.mural.ly", "www.padlet.com" are truly advatageous tools for teachers and students to
learn and teach in an innovative and interesting way. You can integrate all the contents
(grammar, vocabulary, information) seen in class, and involve the whole class in that
revision/learning.
~ Assuming the technology is available at schools, the application of WEB 2.0 tools in the
classroom can help to create dynamic classes and lessons, which are motivating both for
students and teachers. Of course, as everything, using WEB 2.0 tools requires careful planning
especially if the teacher is not that much of an expert in the use of them.
It can be fun to use WEB 2.0 tools.
~ I have explored wonderful sites and pages that seem excellent and that i would definitely use in
my classes. I could find sites for different purposes, depending on the activity ot the my
objective with the students i can choose an appropriate site. The only disadvantage that i may
face is the facilities of the school or institute. In my case, the place where i work has only three
computers and i have 11 students. So, it may be difficult to do individual activities.
4. 4
~ By using WEB2.0 tools, students will have the oppotunity to interact with each other as well as
with people living in other countries through virtual communities, social networks, blogs, etc.
which is very motivating for them. This also allows them to modify content on the web, sharing
ideas and information, and actively take part on the digital era we are living in.
~ In my opinion, I believe that it is very important to make a shift into an Innovative Teaching
Approach and to go beyond the traditional teaching one because you can take advantage of
varied tools to teach and share with students. It can more engaging and motivating not only for
those students who are born in the digital era but also for those that are not.
*Visual Literacy
~ Analysing and reflecting upon images helps to make students more aware of the messages that
photos can transmit.
As teachers, we can bring images for them to write about not only descriptions but also stories.
~ Visual literacy is one of the most accesible ways of getting to our students. Not only through
the use of images but also through the use of videos learning can be very effective.
~ I found really interested the way in which we approached visual literacy. I had never thought
before about how many things we can do with only one image. Images are very useful for
developing students imagination, for creating discussions and for reflecting upon the things
that they show.
~ I would make use of visual literacy to trigger on my students some ideas to develop exercises
and debates. I could use it to present on topic on which the students would have to comment
or discuss and even write about it or make presentations of their own interest. It could be a
very useful tool to make my students present what they believe is the most important and
share their own ideas and opinions with the rest of the class. It would be useful to raise
awareness of important social, ecological, historical and many more matters.
~ "An image is worth a thousand words". In my opinion, the use of images allows students to be
creative and to express their opinion freely. There is no written text limiting the meaning of the
image (or if there is, it will probably be short), so students can say what they see in the
picture/s.
In this subject, we learned how to create a photo essay. I really liked that experience because
there are no limitations, so you can create a photo essay about what you want. It is not a
difficult task, so both teachers and students can create one and show it to others. It is not
necessary include text in the essay, there exist times in which images can speak for themselves.
~ I have always liked images and pictures because i have used them as a student and they were
not only helpful to create an image in my mind so as to understand a new concept or idea, but
also because it connects and creates a lot of associations in the brain. Moreover, pictures may
raise varied feelings and sensations that other forms would not. However, i used paper
pictures. Now i know wonderful sites where poeple share excellent pictures and that are great
to use in the classroom.
5. 5
~ This is an interesting ability that students can develop in class that allows them to interpret,
analyse, negotiate, and make meaning from what is presented in a picture. While students can
practice their language by describing what they see they can also graps the meaning being
communicated in images.
~ Visual literacy is a great tool that we can use in our classrooms. A picture can say many things
so we can use them to explore any topic. I think that by using pictures we can foster
imagination and creativity in our students. It is also a way to promote criticial thinking.
*Program analysis, revision, evaluation & modifications suggested
~ The first classes we worked only with a few tools. It would have been nice to have more time to
explore all the tools proposed in the program. I would suggest, then, to present from 3 to 5
tools per class, to work with them during the week. I liked the semirar very much but is a shame
that we had missed some classes due to strikes.
~ Personally, I think the program couldnt be better. We had access to hundreds of different
programs in a lot of fields and also different programs or options for the same field.
The form of evaluation is very good, thanks to that we could get to know texts that we hadnt
had the possibility to read but with our partners presentations we got a clear idea about them.
I cannot think about something to be modified. In my case, I didnt have time enough in some
ocassions to complete all the tasks provided. This hasnt got to do with a modification to be
done, but with my own schedule.
All in all, this course was quite helpful for me and my future as a teacher.
~ As I didn't know much about technological tools, I found this seminar very useful. I've learnt
how to use several new tools and applications that are useful for me as a student at university,
and as a future teacher.
~ I think all the tools presented during this seminar were really useful. I believe that I could make
use of all of them at some point in my teaching. The tools I liked the most were the photo
essays and mural.ly.
A modification I would make would be to add some links to a video or image tutorial on how to
use the web tools each class. I think we can learn by trying but if we do not even know the
basics it takes at times too long, and it may even become frustrating when we cannot make it
right after trying several times.
~ I think most of the websites we saw are very well-designed tools, appealing in their layout and
with many options to create whatever you want. The ones which I did not like were very
difficult to understand and with few options for creation.
This subject really opened my mind, as I discovered that exist many websites to create and to
make my classes for interesting (if technology is available).
One modification I would suggest is to explain what each site is about or how to use it, before
actually using the site. At least I would like to be provided with a tutorial first, instead of clicking
on whatever option I think is the correct one.
6. 6
I enjoyed the subject, but as it is a seminar, it finished so fast! What I liked the most where the
photo essay and the mural.ly.
~ This seminar has brought to my attention several useful tools for use in education, some which
I knew about and knew how to use, some which I knew about but had never bothered to try
them, some which I did not know about at all.
The system of practicals (the ones I have done so far) allowed me to use the tools and get to
know them, and think of possible uses in an English lesson.
~ I really liked the organization of the seminar. Although it was rather infromal evaluated, as soon
as we learn a new tool we had to do something and start using it or practising. This "practicals"
were great as we learn by doing and that gave us the chance to start exploring all these new
tools and sites.
The final evaluation is great, too. It is a way of seeing if we have understood all the websites,
tools and the ideas behind the seminar.
Thank you, I learned plenty of useful things that i will be using and that i am sharing with other
future teachers.
~ It has been a very useful and entertaining experience. In a short period of time we have learn to
use different online that we can apply both as students and future teachers. By using this at
school we can motivate our students and prepare ourselves for this technological era.
The only modification I would suggest is that some instructions should be given in a more
detailed way. There were some confusion related to what exactly we were supposed to do in
some activities. All in all, it was a great experience.
~ I think that the program is great. I have learned many useful tools that I, as a future teacher,
can apply in the classroom. For example, glogster, murraly, wordle, etc. Moreover, I have
visited wonderful sites where there are amazing photos that I can take for teaching purposes.

THANK YOU ALL for Evaluating and Reflecting on this Innovative Learning Experience
NAME & final comments
This seminar was more than helpful for me, I thought I knew how to use technology in the
classroom until I attended to this seminar, here, I discovered that I knew nothing about
technology applied in the classroom. I learned thousands of different ways of presenting
different topics in a meaningful way for students. I also discovered many ways of making
learning easier for my students. I think this kind of courses should be compulsory for
teachers working in any school level. As technology advances and is part of our everyday
life, it also should be an educative part of school, that is to say, we as teachers should be
able to use these tools for an educative purpose and prepare our children for their future. I
enjoyed this seminar very much. Thank you =D Gianna Di Dino

I would recommend my fellow teacher-students to take this seminar, I have learned about
some wonderful ICT tools and how to use them with the purpose of educating. The seminar
is really useful and most definitely time well-spent. Thank you! Víctor Camargo
As I already mentioned, this was a great experience and I'm glad I had the opportunity to
participate in this seminar. This will be very helpful and necessary for my teacher career.

I think this seminar was very interesting and useful. I have learned many tools. I hope to
continue learning more and to apply all I learned in my future classrooms. It was not easy
but I really enjoyed it. Gisela Nacini
I really liked everything learned, and I would love to keep on searching for new tools (which
I'm already doing, hehe). I think that this seminar should NOT be optional, otherwise we
would outdated as teachers. Nicolas Miró
I feel great about the things that I have learnt, as I sometimes have some problems
using technology, and now with all these tools and websites I am getting started and it
feels awesome because now I know that it’s not that difficult and that I can do it.
Natasha Barrau.
Teaching and learning collaboratively is about SHARING; something that we need to
improve as future teachers and students! LOVELY SEMINAR. Lis Marianela Aguiar.
Well, I enrolled in this seminar because I realized that i was awful with technology and i
needed to improve my skills in order to fit with the demands that a teacher working in
2014 faces. I was eager to learn tools to have at hand and to use in the classroom.
Although it was somehow complicated, I got loads of updated tools to use in the
classroom and facilitate the learning process. As we divided the class in groups to solve
many of the activities,I received advice from from my classmates which were really
useful and practical. We shared tips and little secrets to manage different websites. I
have to say that we had a great teacher who was all the time online answering our
doubts and trying to help us manage the different websites and tools. I learned a lot!
And i’m grateful for that! I think that this is a seminar that teachers in these times must
do. It is not a question of likes or dislikes, I think these tools should be applied in the
classroom, and so as to apply them it is necessary to understand and use them. Thank
you :) Natasha Barrau

Through this seminar,we learned about different educational tools related to technology
and the internet. I really appreciated the fact that every time you introduced us with a
new tool, you made us think how we could use it in the classroom. So, we did not only
learn about a new website (for example), but we also started thinking about how that
tool could be used to make learning easier and deeper. I enjoyed the seminar and
found it innovative and surprising: each class was not like the previous one, and each
class we learned something different. Paola Urbizu
