Together, let us make a difference
“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way”
- Napoleon Hill
We took this advice to heart and set out to do our bit,
Thus Pure Living was born…
(Products Up cycled, Recycled and Economised)
We started with something small such as a pen.
And made , a pen made out of paper!
A small eco-conscious venture to minimize the plastic in the pen.
Then we moved on to something even smaller.. – Wicks!
‘Wicksdom’ is an initiative to make wicks for oil lamps out of
The loving hands behind this initiative belongs to our elders in
poor homes .They find relief in this activity to use their time
effectively and also to have an additional source of income.
Here is some startling info about plastic disposable pens.
Bic sold its 100 billionth disposable ballpoint pen by 2005
Imagine, if these 100 billion pens are laid end to end …, they would
circle the earth 348 times.
Thus, the number of pens floating around the planet is ASTRONOMICAL
Its time we stop this!
And here’s the solution as to how can we stop this ?
Either WE make refilling and reusing our pens a habit
Choose Eco friendly disposable pens like
Pens made of up cycled paper.
Pens made of fresh paper.

Paper pen is an amazing eco friendly product that has
immense potential to replace plastic pens to a great extent.
Awareness and availability are the two criteria for its
For awareness, Pure Living conducts training programs
For easy availability, Pure Living has facilitated distribution
of these pens at convenient stores in schools, bookstores,
stationary shops, boutiques and other similar outlets.
Pure Living has semi-automated the production process to
improve the productivity and scale up production.
We are proud to say that the entire process is now
carried out by women and the differently abled.

‘Wicksdom’ – wicks for oil lamps.
(‘Ammoommatthiri’ in malayalam language)
It started as an activity to keep my 88 year old
grandma occupied. She regularly makes wicks for our lamps
in the prayer room. I suggested that she makes a few extra
ones to distribute among her other children and relatives. The
excitement she had in gifting the wicks made me realize how
much she yearns to prove that she is still worthy of doing
something for others. I also started supplying it to temples in
and around. This gave her immense joy to know that the wicks
were used in faraway temples which she is unable to visit.
(The essence of these lines will be lost in translation. hence not attempting.)
How we do it…
The raw materials are provided for free to the elders.
There is no skilled training required as they are used to the process of rolling wicks
throughout their life .
We sell the rolled wicks to the temples, individuals and institutions .
It is a small task which keeps the old aged in poor homes occupied and also help
them earn a living even at this age. Another advantage is that it gives an amazing
accupressure effect to their fingers as they twist the cotton fiber.
Pass on the heritAge…
not the garbAge.
Start small, think BIG & act NOW
towards a clean and Pure living
