11. Advantage India for Handicrafts
Foreign tourist arrivals in India have increased as India continues to be a favorable tourist destination for
leisure as well as centre of raw materials for various Handicrafts so has increased business travel. The
falling rupee value has increased exports and FDI from UK and USA in also fields like Handicrafts and
Textiles.
Strong Growth in the services
industry in the past few years
has led to increased corporate
spending on high valued good
eco products.
The Government of India has
introduced various policies to
promote the Indian handicrafts
industry so the demand for eco
products has seen a new turning
point. Free Trade pacts are also
introduced to encourage Exports
Increasing income and
affordability have increased
domestic leisure travel in the
country so eco travel has
increased.
The demand for Eco friendlly
products like paper jute etc
quality products in India currently
exceeds supply.
12. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse
After all, aren't we just borrowing Mother Earth for the time that we are here?
Integral part in ensuring our children’s world and future.
Recycle, Reduce, Reuse… all great ways to cut costs and save money!
We are recycling.
We are reducing. (Well, starting to anyway!)
We are reusing.
13. Handmade Paper Products
They are made from 100%
recycled paper which are
wood free and with no
toxins and resins used. The
pulp consists of used bits
of cotton, silk threads, dried
leaves petal of flowers, jute
threads, bamboo shreads,
coconut husk etc.,The
paper is laid for drying
under direct sunlight in the
fields and so a lot of
electricity is saved.
14. Jute Products
It’s a natural fiber and is sourced
from Kolkata and then converted
into products like jewellery,
footwear, bags (which are highly
appreciated as they are long
lasting and a substitute for plastic
bags) which are a cause of
blocking the drains. The jute files
and folder are used extensively by
the Corporate during work shops,
seminars and conferences. Jute
travel suitcases and travel kits are
slowly catching attention as they
are substitutes for leather which is
not eco-friendly. Jute carpets and
laptops bags are new rage as they
are elegant and have a look of
sophistication.
15. Recycled Wooden Products
Woodcraft has given a new
definition to home-furnishing in
India. Products like trays, fruit
bowls, storage receptacles, painted
cradles, boxes, pen-stand ,mobile
stand, doors, windows,etc. are
made in India using various woods
like walnut woods,
ebony,rosewood,sandal wood,
teakwood,etc.
16. Banana Bark Products
The banana plant is wasted
after bearing the fruit. The
bark is crushed under the
crusher just like extraction
of sugarcane juice. The
juice extracted is put back
into the soil for manure and
the long strands are dried in
sun light then weaved
together and are used to
produce bolster cover, tea
coaster, table mats, bags
etc.,
17. Bamboo Products
These are totally bio
degradable and are a
substitute for wooden items
and furniture they are light
weight and can be recycled
easily.
