the supply.

It is the maximum current capacity that can be bear by the

What is purpose of energy meter?
It records the energy or power consumed by the consumer.

What do you mean by the one unit of energy meter?
One unit = 1 KWH.(kilo watt hour)

What is purpose of stair case wiring?
Energy saving and utility service.
9. What are the types of energy meter in market?
(i) Induction type energy meter
(ii) Electronic energy meter
(iii) Smart card/prepaid energy meter.

12. How many wires are generally used in house wiring?
Two (one is phase and second is neutral).
13. Why house wiring is done in parallel?
Otherwise voltage will be different across each equipment.

230 volt (phase to neutral) and 420 volts(phase to phase).

Ans. It creates phase difference between running and starting
winding and provides starting torque.

What is an auto transformer?
It provides constant input and a variable output voltage. It
has only one winding.

Name the insulation used in ceiling fan?
Rubber, paper, varnish, Bakelite etc.
4.
Winding are fitted on stator or rotor of ceiling fan?
On stator side.
5.
What are the ratings of ceiling fan?
(i) 60 W, 350 rpm, 1-phase, 230 V, 50 Hz
(ii) 45 W, 350 rpm, 1-phase, 230 V, 50 Hz.

What happens if capacitor terminals are interchanged?
There will be no effect on fan performance.

What happens if running winding terminals are
interchanged?
Fan will start running in opposite direction..

Which of the induction motor is self start?
Three phase induction motor.

What do you mean by HP?
HP is used for horse power , which is the unit of power and
is equivalent to 746 Watt.

No, 1-phase induction motor is not self starting because its
starting torque is very low.

We can start a ceiling fan without using capacitor, Yes or
Not?
Yes, by providing it a torque in any direction but it rotates
slowly.

To reduce eddy current losses.

Because it hangs from the hook of the ceiling.

It is the terminal of the supply which have some potential. 3. What is stair case wiring? In this, a device or lamp is operated by two switches from different positions. 4. What is the neutral ? Neutral in electrical supply system provides the return path to the supply. 5. What is the significance of current ratings of switches. It is the maximum current capacity that can be bear by the switch. 6. What is purpose of energy meter? It records the energy or power consumed by the consumer. 7. What do you mean by the one unit of energy meter? One unit = 1 KWH.(kilo watt hour) 8. What is purpose of stair case wiring? Energy saving and utility service. 9. What is the function of capacitor in ceiling fan? Ans. It creates phase difference between running and starting winding and provides starting torque. 2. What is an auto transformer? It provides constant input and a variable output voltage. It has only one winding. 3. Name the insulation used in ceiling fan? Rubber, paper, varnish, Bakelite etc. 4. Winding are fitted on stator or rotor of ceiling fan? On stator side. 5. What are the ratings of ceiling fan? (i) 60 W, 350 rpm, 1-phase, 230 V, 50 Hz (ii) 45 W, 350 rpm, 1-phase, 230 V, 50 Hz. 6. What happens if capacitor terminals are interchanged? There will be no effect on fan performance. 7. What happens if running winding terminals are interchanged? Fan will start running in opposite direction.. 8. Which of the induction motor is self start? Three phase induction motor. 9. What do you mean by HP? HP is used for horse power , which is the unit of power and is equivalent to 746 Watt. 10. Is single phase induction motor self starting or not? No, 1-phase induction motor is not self starting because its starting torque is very low. 11. We can start a ceiling fan without using capacitor, Yes or Not? Yes, by providing it a torque in any direction but it rotates slowly.
