    Hi,

    the error is in connecting to database. make sure easyphp is running. restart easyphp and try. also ensure the settings in wp-config match those of username and database created by you.

    help, installed easyphp - installed wordpress in folder within the www folder. But when i click on it this message appears ’Error establishing a database connection’ -
    1. I have installed wordpress
    2. I have installed Easyphp
    3. I have created a database within Easyphp
    4. I have changed the wp-config file to my easyphp username etc.

    Any suggestions from anyone -

    I don’t know how I would have done it without this tutorial! I don’t quite understand the use of the username and password we set up though, because WordPress is then giving admin for username with another password... also I think the slides must be using an older version of EasyPHP because yes, the screens looked different... but we can still understand the steps...

    dear alex, if you have successfully installed EasyPHP, go to Start > Programs > EasyPHP. There you may find the shortcut for PHPmyadmin.

    So.. how do i start phpMyAdmin? ('Lauch phpMyAdmin'). I’ve installed EasyPhp and even the files on its subdirectories don’t have something like phpMyAdmin.EXE (or .COM, or... who knows?)

  3. What You Need
    • EasyPHP
    • WordPress
  4. What is EasyPHP?
    • A WAMP (Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP) bundle
    • A suite of the following software
      • Apache
      • MySQL
      • PHP
      • phpMyAdmin
    • Download from http://easyphp.org/telechargements.php3
  5. What is WordPress?
    • A blog publishing system programmed in PHP
    • Uses MySQL as the backend (database)
    • A free software to set up blogs
    • Download from http://wordpress.org/download/
  6. How To Do
    • Install EasyPHP
    • Create a database in MySQL with PhpMyAdmin
    • Install WordPress Software
    • Set up your blog
  7. Step 1: Install EasyPHP Double Click EasyPHP.exe to launch the installer
  8. Click “Next” to Continue
  9. Click “I accept the agreement” and click “Next”
  10. Read the Instructions
  11. Select Destination Location
  12. Select Start Menu Folder
  13. Click “Install”
  14. Installation in Progress…
  15. Installation Complete
  16. EasyPHP Service Started
  17. EasyPHP Icon on System Tray
  18. Checking the EasyPHP Installation Type http://localhost on the address bar of your web browser. The following screen appears…

  20. Step 2: Create a database
    • Launch PhpMyAdmin
    • Create a database named “wordpress”
    • Create a user named “wordpress”
    • Grant all privileges to the user “wordpress” on the database “wordpress”
  21. Launch EasyPHP Administration
  22. EasyPHP Administration Window
  23. Click “PHPMYADMIN”
  24. PHPMYADMIN Window
  25. Create a new database by name “wordpress” (or any other name)
  26. Note: the collation – UTF-8
  27. Now Click Here Now, Click Here
  28. Click “Privileges”
  29. Add a New User by name “wordpress” Click Here
  30. Enter “Login Information” and give “Global Privileges” Enter “wordpress” for user name and “localhost” for Host. Type your password Select “Use text field” for all Click “Check All” Click “Go”
  31. New User Added Click “Privileges”
  32. Check Privileges on wordpress
  33. Step 3: Install WordPress
    • Extract WordPress files to the “www” folder in EasyPHP installation folder
    • Rename “wp-config-sample.php” to
    • “ wp-config.php”
    • Open “wp-config.php” and fill in the database information
    • Run “install.php” from the Web Browser to install WordPress Software
  34. Extract WordPress files
  35. Note the location there !
  36. Extraction in Progress…
  37. Browse to the “www” folder
  38. Open “wordpress” folder Rename this file to wp-config.php
  39. After renaming…
  40. Open wp-config.php with any text editor (like Notepad)
  41. Fill in the database information Enter ‘wordpress’ for DB_NAME and DB_USER Enter the password for DB_PASSWORD which you provided while creating the user
  42. Save the file and close
  43. Now Open Localhost Now you can see “wordpress” folder listed. Click “wordpress” folder to open it
  44. A message appears… Click on “install.php”
  45. The First Step Click Here
  46. Name Your Blog Click Here
  47. The Second Step Note username and password Click Here to log in
  48. WordPress Admin Login Enter Username and Password. Click Login
  49. Your Blog Dashboard Click on “View site” to view your blog
  50. Your Blog is ready !
