The presentation on Muslim Stereotypes that I did for college

1. Muslim Stereotypes

2. Research Overview
 I have researched Muslim stereotypes through
questionnaires, discussions and individual research.
From what I’ve found out, Muslims are stereotyped as
terrorists and that they have a deeply sexist attitude
that objectifies women. After events such as 9/11 and
the Lee Rigby murder, the EDL (English Defense
League) and Muslim race have waged war against
each other which has been going on for years.

3. The 3 Ideas and Inspirations

Muslims: This was my main idea as this in my opinion is a strong topic that has been talked about for years. My idea for
this would be a short film or documentary, although I haven’t really started production on this as of yet. An inspiration is
Michael Bay as he is one of my favourite directors.

Americans: This was a good idea as Americans stereotype British people. There are a few stereotypes that you can
associate with Americans, such as they are a gun loving culture and that they are arrogant. Animation is my idea of how I
would portray American stereotypes. Mainly claymation as this is a technique I’m familiar with. I am inspired by Nick Park
as he was one of the leading names in claymation.

Gender: Gender is a good one as men and women are just as bad as each other and can think of many stereotypes to
associate. I would use photography for this as there are many images that I can find that evidence gender stereotypes. I
am inspired by Ansel Adams who is a famous photographer.

4. My Main Idea

I chose Muslims as my main project because I believe that this is a subject that has been
resurfaced time and time again which as a result has heavily affected our perception of
Muslims. I am planning on making a short film or documentary that will portray the
oppression Muslims go through when they’re subject to racial abuse and stereotyping,
interviewing a friend of mine who is a Muslim. Linked below are 3 mini documentaries
