roville Charter being read out
by the Mother.
there are 13 farms in
Auroville covering over Qianyi Ye ALA227
350 acres.
2. Ecovillage:
The whole city is divided
in a well planned manner,
into a peace area,
indus trial zone,
residential zone
international zone,
cultural zone, and the
green belt which
surrounds the
whole city.
3. The farms employ about 200
full-time workers from surround
ing villages.

It was found that
few coming to Auroville
were either knowledge
able or interested in
running farms. Though
the present farms are
well equipped by now,
more farmers and funds
are needed in the fu
ture, to take care of
available land.

The stards have created
a series of water catchment
ponds, from which they can
irrigate more land without
tapping into ground water
reserves.

The products are sold through a number of Auro
ville shops and also beyond AV.
Rice and vegetables are provided for meals in the
communal Solar Kitchen and for distribution among
schools.Fruits and grains are preserved and packed
at twoAuroville food-processing units and at some
of the farms
