  1. 1. India Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. belongs to humanity as a whole. Organic Farming Renewable Energy Education Farm Group city of dawn Represent Earth located in Tamil Nadu of South India Established On February 28, 1968, about 5000 people from 121 countries and 23 Indian states assembled in what was then the outskirts of Pondi- cherry and listened to the Au- roville Charter being read out by the Mother. there are 13 farms in Auroville covering over Qianyi Ye ALA227 350 acres.
  2. 2. Ecovillage:The whole city is dividedin a well planned manner,into a peace area,indus trial zone,residential zoneinternational zone,cultural zone, and thegreen belt whichsurrounds thewhole city.
  3. 3. The farms employ about 200full-time workers from surrounding villages. Snake gourd Green papaya Tapioca Pumpkin Beans Flower Forest Etc. Local Seasonal Food

  5. 5. Education:VistorsVolunteerLocal PeopleIt was found thatfew coming to Aurovillewere either knowledgeable or interested inrunning farms. Thoughthe present farms arewell equipped by now,more farmers and fundsare needed in the future, to take care ofavailable land.
  6. 6. a combination of solar anddiesel powered pumps, forcurrent and water.The stards have createda series of water catchmentponds, from which they canirrigate more land withouttapping into ground waterreserves.
  7. 7. an office and distribution centre called FoodlinkThe products are sold through a number of Auroville shops and also beyond AV.Rice and vegetables are provided for meals in thecommunal Solar Kitchen and for distribution amongschools.Fruits and grains are preserved and packedat twoAuroville food-processing units and at someof the farms
