14. Financial Aid & Scholarships

There are three types of monetary aid provided by colleges:
• Need aware Financial Aid
• Need blind Financial Aid
• Merit based Scholarships
Different countries have different kinds of aid available.
For example Singapore has a Ministry of Education Tuition Subsidy
(Scholarship). This is a grant that requires the recipient to work in a
Singapore-based company for three years upon graduation.
Similarly, the U.S. has colleges that offer Need Based Financial Aid,
where, before giving admission, they provide aid based on ‘need’.
Note: unless the university is need-blind for international students
asking for aid puts you in a very competitive pool for admission.
