Australia
ADELAIDE SCHOLARSHIPS INTERNATIONAL (ASI)
The University of Adelaide offers Adelaide Scholarships International (ASI) to attract high quality overseas
postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the University of Adelaide to support its research
efforts.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students who have successfully completed at least the
equivalent of an Australian First Class Honors degree. Generally applicants who succeed in winning an
ASI scholarship have completed a master’s degree including a significant research component and have
several publications and relevant work and research experience.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded course tuition fees for two years for a master’s degree by research
and three years for a doctoral research degree (an extension is possible for doctoral programs only);
an annual living allowance ($26,288 AUD in 2016) for two years for a master’s degree by research

SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN AUSTRALIA

MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
The International Undergraduate Scholarships were established by the University of Melbourne in
recognition of the significant contribution made by international students to the diversity of the university’s
student population.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand and
are not a permanent resident of Australia; Applicants must have received an unconditional offer for an
undergraduate course and must have achieved excellent final year school results.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded one of the following benefits: a one off $10,000 fee remission from
tuition fees in the first year of an undergraduate degree; or a 50% remission from tuition fees for the
normal full-time duration of an undergraduate degree; or a 100% remission from tuition fees for the
normal full-time duration of an undergraduate degree.

Australia Awards Scholarships are long term development awards administered by the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade. They aim to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia’s partner
countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements.

ENDEAVOUR SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
The Australia Awards–Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are the Australian Government’s competitive,
merit-based scholarships and fellowships providing opportunities for Australians to undertake study,
research or professional development overseas and for overseas citizens to do the same in Australia.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students from America, Asia, the Caribbean,
Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific.

FLINDERS UNIVERSITY: AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT RESEARCH
TRAINING PROGRAM (AGRTP) SCHOLARSHIP (INTERNATIONAL)
The Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Scholarships (International) are specifically
intended to support international students to undertake a research higher degree at Flinders University.

• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded tuition fees charged by Flinders University for a research higher
degree, as well as a living allowance paid at the rate of $26,682 AUD (2017 rate).

LA TROBE COLLEGE EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
The La Trobe College Excellence Scholarship (CES) is a scholarship available to international students to cover
tuition fees for high-achieving international students accepted into their undergraduate and postgraduate
coursework programs.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand who
are applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program in 2017.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded between 15%, 20% and 25% deduction on annual tuition fees for
the duration of their studies and are limited in number.
MACQUARIE VICE-CHANCELLOR’S INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship provides a partial tuition fee scholarship
for outstanding students to study at Macquarie University North Ryde campus.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded up to $10,000 AUD and it will be applied towards their tuition fee.
IWC MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS
The IWC Scholarships are prestigious scholarships awarded annually to high calibre candidates who clearly
demonstrate potential to become future water leaders to study the IWC Master of Integrated Water Mana-
gement (MIWM) at The University of Queensland in Australia.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students who meet the following requirements: Must have
completed an undergraduate degree in a related field of study from an internationally recognized
institution; Must have at least two years of professional experience (paid work or volunteering experience)
relevant to the program.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded $92,645 AUD.
MONASH INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
The Monash University Scholarship program offers over 200 scholarships for new and current students.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students who meet the following requirements: Applicants
must be an international student; commencing a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework)
degree at a Monash campus in Australia (you must have received a full Monash course offer); must not
be the recipient of any other scholarships, grants or financial incentives funded by Monash University
or be sponsored by other bodies/institutions.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 100% course fees paid until the minimum number of points for
their degree are completed (excludes OSHC, accommodation and living costs).

AUSTRALIA RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM (RTP) SCHOLARSHIPS
The RTP provides block grants, on a calendar year basis, to higher education providers (HEPs) to support both
domestic and overseas students undertaking research doctorate and research master’s degrees, known as
higher degrees by research (HDRs).
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to domestic or overseas students enrolled in an accredited HDR
course of study at an Australian HEP.

VICTORIAN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AWARDS
The Victorian International Education Awards are an initiative of the Victorian Government to support the
international education sector, promote best practice in the sector, and raise awareness of its benefits to
the broader community.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded up to $10,000 AUD to contribute to their studies at an educational
institution in Victoria.

HUMBER INTERNATINAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Humber College in Toronto, Canada offers full and partial tuition scholarships to international undergraduate
students. The scholarships are divided throughout their three semester intakes each year (Winter, Summer,
Fall). Applications will be considered based on academics, community involvement, referee/reference letters
and statement of interest.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students coming directly from high school/secondary
school studies, who are non-transfer students (i.e. haven’t attended college or university, or studied in
Humber’s EAP program), and are unlimited in quantity. Humber awards degree scholarships
automatically to graduating high school students based on academic achievement.
• AWARD: Humber College offers two full tuition scholarships and one scholarship worth $5,000 CAD.
The scholarships will be applied toward the successful students’ tuition fees. The scholarships are
renewable, but the student must maintain a minimum average of 75% in order to be eligible for renewal.

SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN CANADA

YORK UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
York University in Ontario, Canada offers the Global Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships and the International
Entrance Scholarships to international students for full time undergraduate study.
• ELIGIBILITY: York University offers multiple scholarships that are open to international students. For

• AWARD: The award varies depending on the scholarship. Recipients of the Global Leader of Tomorrow
Award will receive $80,000 CAD ($20,000 CAD each year for 4 years); Recipients of the International
Entrance Scholarships will receive $140,000 CAD ($35,000 CAD each year for 4 years).
UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL MAJOR
ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS (IMES)
IMES is a merit based scholarship for students who are offered admission at the University of British Columbia.
Students must be on a study permit and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
• ELIGIBILITY: As soon as you receive an offer of admission to UBC, you’ll automatically be considered for
these merit-based awards. Consideration is based on your demonstrated academic achievement and

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA GRADUATE FELLOWHIPS
The Government of Manitoba has provided funds to ensure that Manitoba’s best students continue education
at home, to foster research that leads to economic growth and to attract excellent students to study in Manitoba.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students with a minimum GPA of 3.75 (above B+) in each of the
last two years of study at a recognized university based on a bachelor’s, master’s graduate diploma or a

• AWARD: PhD winners are awarded $18,000 CAD while master’s winners are awarded $14,000 CAD.
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH AWARDS
The IDRC offers various scholarships for master’s, PhD and post doctoral students to fund work that will
address challenges in developing countries. There are also some scholarships available to Canadian students
to conduct research that will benefit the developing world.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of
developing countries pursuing a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university OR who have
completed a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA SCHOLARSHIPS

MCGILL UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FUNDING
McGill recognizes the challenges International students can face when studying away from home. The
Scholarships and Student Aid Office is committed to ensuring that qualified students from any geographic
region are financially supported in their goals to enter and complete academic programs at the University.

who are accepted to McGill University.
PIERRE ELLIOTT TRUDEAU FOUNDATION
The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation offers doctoral scholarships in the humanities and social sciences field.
The scholarship rewards Canadian and foreign students as well as those who pursue research in the relevant
fields. Trudeau Scholars are outstanding students who are interested in growing in a multidisciplinary learning
environment and in addressing important questions for Canada and the world.

• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded $40,000 CAD per year for three years and $20,000 CAD per year for

GRADUATE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP
The Graduate Global Leadership Fellowships enable promising leaders from developing countries to pursue
doctoral studies at UBC. The fellowships are to support international students showing outstanding
leadership in humanitarian and development work in their home country. Graduate Global Leadership
Fellowships thus open the way to a world-class graduate education for emerging scholars from countries
with developing educational systems.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students who hold a study permit at the beginning of the
fellowship funding period; are citizens of a developing country at the time of application for admission;
have shown outstanding leadership in humanitarian and development work in their home country; are
starting a PhD or DMA program at the UBC Vancouver campus in January 2017, May 2017, or September
2017; are starting their first doctoral degree; students with external funding (external scholarships,
third-party sponsorship, etc.) are eligible to apply, but if successful, recipients will have their Graduate
Global Leadership Fellowship funding reduced by the amount of their external funding.

FINCAD WOMEN IN FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP
FINCAD established FINCAD’s Women in Finance scholarship to support oustanding women in the field of
finance, especially in the field of derivates and financial risk management. It is also designed to give women
the opportunity to cultivate and share their skills.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to women of any nationality who wish to study finance in a
graduate-level program.

VARNIER CANADA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
This scholarship, launched by the government of Canada, is designed to help well qualified doctoral students
pursue their studies in renowned Canadian institutions.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to Canadian citizens, permanent citizens of Canda and foreign
citizens. Applicants will be considered on three equally weighted selection criteria: academic excellence,
research potential and leadership.

INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CANADIAN STUDIES:
GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
The ICCS offers 6 scholarships annually to young international scholars to spend 4-6 weeks at a Canadian
University for research in the field of Canadian studies.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students in the social sciences or humanities field who are
preparing for a graduate thesis or dissertation on Canada
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded up to $4,000 CAD for all expenses.

Scholarship Guide: Studying in China
MOFCOM SCHOLARSHIP
MOFCOM Scholarship is set up by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China to further
strengthen the communication and cooperation between China and other countries, as well as to develop
talents for developing countries. Starting from 2015, MOFCOM Scholarship mainly sponsors the young and
the middle-aged talents from recipient countries to pursue their postgraduate degree education in China
and entrusts China Scholarship Council to administer the Scholarship.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students meeting the following requirements: be a citizen of a
country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health; be a bachelor’s degree holder
when applying for master’s program; be a master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral program;
be under the age of 45 when applying; have sufficient English or Chinese proficiency which meets the
academic requirements of the program. English: IETS 6.0 or above, Chinese: HSK level 4 (score180) or
above, or other evidence which indicates your English or Chinese proficiency is adequate.

SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN CHINA

CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP
For the purpose of supporting the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitating international promotion
of the Chinese language and dissemination of Chinese culture.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students from 18 to 35 years old.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded full coverage on tuition fees, accommodation fees, living allowance
and comprehensive medical insurance.

BILATERAL PROGRAM FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREE
In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture,
education and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series
of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct
research in Chinese universities.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to new students during their bachelor’s degree who are no older
than 25 years of age.

XINJIANG UYGUR AUTONOMOUS REGION GOVERNMENT
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government Scholarships for Neighboring Countries are full scholarships.
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Office of Education is responsible for enrollment and the day to day
management of international students from neighboring countries.

CHINESE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM FOR MASTER’S DEGREE
Chinese Government Scholarship supports international students, teachers and scholars in pursing degrees
at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s and PhD) or non-degree studies and to conduct research in China.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to new students applying to or currently in their master’s degree
who are no older than 35 years of age.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a one-off settlement subsidy of ¥1,500 CYN and a living allowance
of ¥1,700 CYN per month.

FUJIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The government of Fujian Province has established the fujian Government Scholarship for international
students in an effort to further promote the development and make progress on scale, level and service abi-
lity of the international students’ education oin the Fujian Province and attract more academically excellent
international students to study in Fujian.
SHANGHAI GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR MASTER’S DEGREE
The scholarship has been designed to promote the development of higher education of International students
in Chinese provinces and cities, and to further improve the talent cultivation, scientific research, social service,
and cultural exchange.

SICHUAN PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is applicable to the higher education institutions of Sichuan Province which are entitled to
enroll foreign students.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to excellent doctoral students, master’s students, undergraduate
students, junior college students and long term students who are studying in the relevant institutions
and who are applying to study in the institutions. The students will receive the scholarship every year
until they finish their studies on the premise that they are approved by the institutions every year.

ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY PROGRAM OF MARINE SCHOLARSHIP OF CHINA
The State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the Ministry of Education of China jointly offer the program of
Marine Scholarship of China for the purpose of providing financial support to outstanding students from the
coastal countries.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students from the coastal countries or regions around the
South China Sea, the Pacific and the Indian Oceans and African developing countries.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded exemption from registration fees, tuition fees, laboratory fees,
internship fees, and fees for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus. They will also

Finland
SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN FINLAND
FINNISH GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The Finnish government offers scholarships of 3-9 months for Doctoral level studies and research at Finnish
universities or public research universities. The Finnish government scholarship pool program is open to
young researchers from all academic fields. The scholarship does not apply to master’s level studies, post
doctoral studies, or research.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students who have been at least provisionally accepted either
as a visiting Doctoral-level student/researcher, or as a full-time Doctoral degree student. For full eligibility
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a monthly allowance of €1,500 EUR. The allowance is sufficient for
one person only. However, expenses from travel and insurance are not covered by this scholarship.

ERASMUS MUNDUS JOINT MASTER’S DEGREES
An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree (EMJMD), is a prestigious, integrated, international study program,
jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions. EMJMDs award EU-funded
scholarships to the best student candidates applying under annual selection rounds.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to applicants who have obtained a first higher education degree
or demonstrate a recognized equivalent level of learning, according to national legislation and practices,
in the degree-awarding countries.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded participation costs (including the tuition fees, library and laboratory
costs, full insurance coverage and any other mandatory costs related to your participation in the master’s);
it represents a contribution to your travel and installation costs and includes a monthly subsistence
allowance for the entire duration of the study program.

FULBRIGHT FINLAND U.S. STUDENT PROGRAM
The Fulbright Finland awards grants to U.S. students who hold a minimum of bachelor’s degree. Academically

• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to U.S. students.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €1,000 – €1,500 EUR per month. Grantees also receive a travel
award of $1,600 USD and an accident and sickness insurance for the grant period. Additionally, grantees
receive the full support services provided by the Fulbright Finland Foundation.
AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Aalto University scholarship program seeks to recognize talented non-EU/EEA students from across the
world by awarding academic excellence scholarships. These scholarships are merit based and are granted
on a competitive basis. The number is limited depending on the overall number of selected non-EU/EEA
students per degree program.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to non-EU/EEA citizens. Only students who are liable to pay tuition
at Aalto University are eligible to apply for Aalto University scholarships.

The scholarship department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to undergraduates,

educated in Germany.

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences awards scholarships to academically strong international students

international master’s student at the HAW Hamburg; Have completed their school education abroad or

ESMT BERLIN IN GERMANY
ESMT Berlin is offering regional scholarships for international students for the 2017-2018 academic year.

FRIEDRICH EBERT FOUNDATION AWARD
The promotion of young talent has been one of the founding principles of the FES. At the time when Friedrich
Ebert was elected as the first president of the Weimar Republic, it was almost impossible for talented
children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to study at universities or take part in research programs.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to foreign applicants who are already studying, or doing their
postgraduate studies, in Germany at the time of application.
• AWARD: Recipients of the Basic Scholarship Program will be awarded €650 EUR per month. Recipients

GEORG FORSTER RESEARCH AWARD
The Georg Forster Research Award is granted in recognition of a researcher’s entire achievements to date to
academics of all disciplines whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant
impact on their own discipline and beyond and who are expected to continue developing research-based
solutions to the specific challenges facing transition and developing countries.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to nationals of a developing or transition country (excluding
People’s Republic of China and India). Furthermore, at the time of nomination, they must have had their
main residence and place of work in one of these countries for at least five years.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a total of €60,000 EUR. In Germany, research awards are generally

REPORTERS WITHOUT BORDERS REST AND REFUGE SCHOLARSHIP
This Scholarship is a project run by Reporters without Borders Germany and taz Panter Foundation, a
non-profit organization linked to die tageszeitung (taz), a daily newspaper in Berlin.

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The

International students who apply to study at Russian universities are eligible to apply for state funded
scholarships that are a limited number. There is a competitive selection for the scholarship (quota for
international students) which is organized by Rossotrudnichestvo representative offices around the world.
In the countries where Rossotrudnichestvo is not represented, the competitive selection is organized by
Russian diplomatic missions (embassies or consulates).

RADBOUD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Radboud Scholarship Program offers a select number of talented prospective non-EEA students the
opportunity to receive a scholarship to pursue a complete English-taught master’s degree program at
Radboud University. The Radboud Scholarship Program is very selective and is only intended for talented
students who have obtained outstanding study results and are highly motivated to pursue a master’s degree
program at Radboud University.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students who have been admitted in a master’s
program at Radboud University.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a partial tuition waiver to the level of an EU citizen. In addition, the
Radboud Scholarship also covers costs such as those for visa, residence permit, health insurance and
liability insurance. This amounts to about €725 EUR.

ERIK BLEUMINK FUND
This grant is offered by the Univesity of Groningen and is awarded for a 1 year or 2 years master’s program.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students who have gained admission to the
University of Groningen.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded tuition fee, costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and
health insurance.
TU DELFT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
TU Delft offers a number of scholarships that are 3 per faculty and are available for outstanding international
students. This scheme is financed by Justus & Louise Van Effen who studied at TU Delft in the 1940s and
strongly believed technological developments will contribute to solving societal issues.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to international applicants admitted to one of TU Delft’s MSc
programs with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum
in their bachelor’s degree from an internationally renowned university outside the Netherlands.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a full fee waiver for a TU Delft MSc program and living expenses
for 2 years. Membership to the Scholarship club giving access to personal development, workshops,
seminars, etc.
UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE SCHOLARSHIPS
The University of Twente offers scholarships to non-EU students to pursue a master’s program. The benefit
of UTS is becoming one of the most promising UT students as well as an exclusive opportunity to take part
in an intake for one of the three honours programs: Research honours, design honours or change leaders.
• ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to excellent students from both EU/EEA as well as non-EU/
EEA countries, applying for a master’s program at the University of Twente.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €3,000 EUR – €25,000 EUR for one year.
VU AMSTERDAM FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FOR
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The VU Fellowship program offers talented prospective international students the unique opportunity to
pursue a master’s degree at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. VU is committed to providing approximately one
million Euros toward attracting highly motivated and excellent students.
• ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students of all nationalities who are academically excellent and
admitted at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
• AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a tuition fee waiver. VUFP scholarship does not provide any additional
allowance towards study or living costs.
