Digipak analysis
My chemical romance- three cheers for sweet revenge
The font for the name of the band on the front of the album matches the way the bands name is written on the cd. On the front of the cd the album artwork is a man and a woman which matches the text on the inside of the cd which states that the album is “the story of a man, a woman, and the corpses of a thousand evil men…” on the back of the album cover it had a picture of each individual band member with the bands name written underneath it but this time in a different font with the album name written underneath it. It sticks to the convention of the red white and black theme throughout the album cover. Inside the case under the cd it has a drawing of a woman, presumably the same woman on the front of the album cover, laying on a operating table, this gives the impression that the woman on the front has died and links into the idea of the album. On the back of the cd there is a picture of the whole band, the band are dressed in black and white and the background of the picture is white again linking into the common colour theme of the album. On the front of the album it has a parental advisory warning as the album contains swearing and adult themes. On the inside of the cd booklet it contains the lyrics again sticking to the black, white and red convention. The background image is faded out rosary beads which links into the song Helena which was a song dedicated to Gerard, lead singers, and Mikeys, bass player, grandma who was extremely religious, it could also relate to the theme of the album which is death and overcoming death. At the bottom of the booklet it says the album is dedicated to Elena Lee Rush and Maria Jose Santos. Elena was Gerard and Mikey grandmother and Maria was a friend. They also have a list of thank you’s. Throughout the digipak and on the cd it relates back to the rights of reprise records and how they own everything on it. On the back of the cd cover it has the name of the producer the mixers A&R manager and photographer. It also states the address of where the album was recorded. I believe that the target audience for this album was people who had a hard time or have lost a family member or someone close to them.
