the punk and
the monk
together is
symbolic and
represents
what the band
are doing in this
album, the idea
of old and new
clashing,
tradition and
change coming
together
The two children
represent youth,
change and irreverence
that the band hope the
record is listened with
The punk, who is
smoking,
symbolises a break
in tradition and a
rebelliousness that
is brought from the
rock genre
“The Punk and The Monk”
As a monk, the other boy would be deeply against all that the punk stands for; his smoking
habit, his dress sense, his rebellious attitude but yet they hold hands together, portraying an
important message of those from different backgrounds and beliefs being able to co-exist

3. BACK COVER
Relevant information for the record label
Bold red colour to
symbolise; danger, blood,
violence etc.
The rock genre is mostly
related to it’s violent-sounding
melody and its
constant message to rebel
The band’s logo was created to look like a badge
or logo. There is a small crown on top of the logo
because after a 4 year break the band had to gain
back their crown of being the best rock band in the
industry
The only image on
the back cover of
the album are lines
of what look like
black blood. This
may be in
reference to the 11
part music video
which features the
leader singer,
Patrick Stump,
being turned into a
demon and having
his hand violently
cut off by other
demons

4. SPINE
The spine of the album features all 4
members of the band with the eyes
covered with a red line and the title of
the album
Their photos have been written on in a graffiti
style in a way to make them look like targets,
again, in reference to their music video
Red is featured heavily in the album
covers and the spine is no different,
representing blood, violence and
danger
The members of the band never wear any
brightly coloured clothes, keeping to the
conventions of the rock genre – instead the only
wear black clothes

5. PANEL 1 The inside of the album
contains a lyric booklet
of all the songs on the
album which is written in
a small, black font
against a bold, red
background
These photos are
made to look like
informal mug-shots,
as if they
are being targeted
by someone – in
reference to their
music video

6. PANEL 2 The photo’s edges are
crumpled up and worn out, as
if this picture has been kept for
a long time or been pinned up
– as if they are someone’s
target
