  pp 186–95

Considering the nature of your resources

Carry out an audit of the resources required for the setting up and running of your festival.

(You may wish to break into groups to complete this task; each group considering one of
the areas identified below and reporting back to the class.)

                            • We are planning to get a bouncy castle; it will be outside in the playground as it
will take up a lot of space/ Archery will also take place outside as it is dangerous.
We are also planning to have a nail and a face painting bar, which will take inside
n a class room, and in that same classroom there will be a balloon maker. There
will also be another class room open where a film would be shown, and we will
buy a popcorn machine and make the popcorn ourselves to give out to those
watching the film and one last class room where homemade food be purchased.
Some of out creative and media students will also like to do a photo-shoot; this
will be in the school gym as we need to make sure the space is big so none of the
equipment such the camera don’t get knocked down by people. Lastly there will a
stage where performance will take place, and around that we hold stalls from,
                                  different organisation.

                            • The bouncy castle will be outside with the archery and this is a safety hazard
especially for young people this is why it will be in a corner, away from where
archery is taking place to avoid any danger. The nail/face painting and the balloon
will be in the same classroom and because the classroom is not that big, it may be
dangerous to have children moving around a packed classroom. This is why we
will take out the table and chairs from that classroom to give them more space and
just keep two tables that will be used to keep the nail and face painting equipment
and 4 chairs around each table, maybe four or five in a line in the corner for people
to sit while they are waiting to get their nail or face painted. The classroom where
the cinema will be, we will remove the tables and have chairs only so people can
sit comfortable and watch. We will also make the room dark to bring in the
atmosphere. The Stage where the performance will take place is already there so
no change needs to be done about that except making sure there are no loose wires
hanging around during the performance in case any of the performers or audience
                                  trip and fall over.

                            • The bouncy castle, archery, nail/face painting bar (people), and the balloon maker
will need to be hired. We also need to buy the popcorn and the popcorn machine.
Everything else should already be available in school, for example the drum kit
that the performance can be hired from the music department.

                            • The equipment will be set up by the volunteers on Friday afterschool (a day before
the festival). There also be staff helping and watching the volunteers because some

                     3 Materials:

We have about a thousand pound to spend. We will use this
money effectively by changing things so less money can be
spent on it. We start by buying a popcorn machine so we don’t

                                                                                                                                                              Diploma Level 2  Information Technology
need to buy a lot of popcorn as they are expensive we can just
make them ourselves. Also the food that will be sold can be
home-made so that it is fresh and doesn’t cost that much
money. Most equipment such as camera and the equipment
needed for performance can be borrowed from different
departments in school, such as media and music department.

                                                         Human resources:

                           • We have a lot of strengths with in our group, some of us are really good and
communicating with people, some are really organised and others are very
listening to people and there’s a problem and reacting very quickly to come up
with solution. We also have some weaknesses but are weaknesses are someone
else’s strengths, for example, I am really not organised but that is someone else’s
strength so she can help me out if I need any help.

                           • We will each have a role in which we are responsible for, the festival will be
divided in to three groups, performing arts, visual arts, and other. With in each
category we will have different roles, so some in performing arts category may be
in charge of making sure they hire the equipment or borrow them and that they are
there on time on the day and others may hold audition to find students inside and
                                  outside of school to perform.

                           • We will need help from outside of the school from some specialist such as the nail
beauticians, face artist, balloon maker and outdoor centre experts to help out with
                                  the archery.

WS-6.2.3

  • 1. Siddiquea Aktar 11u Unit 6: Festival Level 2 Higher Diploma Creative and MediaUnit 1: Scene 6.2.3 Resources B Student Book pp 186–95 Considering the nature of your resources Carry out an audit of the resources required for the setting up and running of your festival. (You may wish to break into groups to complete this task; each group considering one of the areas identified below and reporting back to the class.) • We are planning to get a bouncy castle; it will be outside in the playground as it will take up a lot of space/ Archery will also take place outside as it is dangerous. We are also planning to have a nail and a face painting bar, which will take inside n a class room, and in that same classroom there will be a balloon maker. There will also be another class room open where a film would be shown, and we will buy a popcorn machine and make the popcorn ourselves to give out to those watching the film and one last class room where homemade food be purchased. Some of out creative and media students will also like to do a photo-shoot; this will be in the school gym as we need to make sure the space is big so none of the equipment such the camera don’t get knocked down by people. Lastly there will a stage where performance will take place, and around that we hold stalls from, different organisation. • The bouncy castle will be outside with the archery and this is a safety hazard especially for young people this is why it will be in a corner, away from where archery is taking place to avoid any danger. The nail/face painting and the balloon will be in the same classroom and because the classroom is not that big, it may be dangerous to have children moving around a packed classroom. This is why we will take out the table and chairs from that classroom to give them more space and just keep two tables that will be used to keep the nail and face painting equipment and 4 chairs around each table, maybe four or five in a line in the corner for people to sit while they are waiting to get their nail or face painted. The classroom where the cinema will be, we will remove the tables and have chairs only so people can sit comfortable and watch. We will also make the room dark to bring in the atmosphere. The Stage where the performance will take place is already there so no change needs to be done about that except making sure there are no loose wires hanging around during the performance in case any of the performers or audience trip and fall over. • The bouncy castle, archery, nail/face painting bar (people), and the balloon maker will need to be hired. We also need to buy the popcorn and the popcorn machine. Everything else should already be available in school, for example the drum kit that the performance can be hired from the music department. • The equipment will be set up by the volunteers on Friday afterschool (a day before the festival). There also be staff helping and watching the volunteers because some © Pearson Education Ltd 2008. Copying permitted for purchasing institution only. This material is not copyright free. 1
  • 2. Unit 1: Scene Creative and Media: Level 2 Higher Diploma Unit 1: Scene equipment can be dangerous, for example, the archery kit. 3 Materials: We have about a thousand pound to spend. We will use this money effectively by changing things so less money can be spent on it. We start by buying a popcorn machine so we don’t Diploma Level 2  Information Technology need to buy a lot of popcorn as they are expensive we can just make them ourselves. Also the food that will be sold can be home-made so that it is fresh and doesn’t cost that much money. Most equipment such as camera and the equipment needed for performance can be borrowed from different departments in school, such as media and music department. Human resources: • We have a lot of strengths with in our group, some of us are really good and communicating with people, some are really organised and others are very listening to people and there’s a problem and reacting very quickly to come up with solution. We also have some weaknesses but are weaknesses are someone else’s strengths, for example, I am really not organised but that is someone else’s strength so she can help me out if I need any help. • We will each have a role in which we are responsible for, the festival will be divided in to three groups, performing arts, visual arts, and other. With in each category we will have different roles, so some in performing arts category may be in charge of making sure they hire the equipment or borrow them and that they are there on time on the day and others may hold audition to find students inside and outside of school to perform. • We will need help from outside of the school from some specialist such as the nail beauticians, face artist, balloon maker and outdoor centre experts to help out with the archery. 2 © Pearson Education Ltd 2008.
