MANAGEMENT
It’s not stress that kills us, it’s our reaction to it.
                                                          Hans Selye
What is Stress??
   Stress is what we feel as a result of how we experience
    ourselves, others and our external environments.

   It is a normal physical response to events that make you feel
    threatened or upset your balance in some way.

   The stress response is the body’s way of protecting you.
    –   Helps you stay focused, energetic, and alert.
    –   But beyond a certain point, stress stops being helpful and starts causing
        major damage to your health

   There can be positive and negative stress:
       Positive stress can result in our taking action to successfully solve
        problems- Motivational effect
       Negative stress can result in feelings of frustration, resentment and
        anger- Anxiety
Stress- Physical or Mental?

   The body doesn’t distinguish between physical and
    psychological threats.

   Chronic stress disrupts nearly every system in your
    body.
     High B.P, suppressed immune system, increased the risk
      of heart attack and stroke, infertility!!
     Long-term stress can even rewire the brain, leaving you
      more•Pain of any kind anxiety and depression.

          •Heart disease        •Obesity
          •Digestive problems   •Autoimmune diseases
          •Sleep problems       •Skin conditions, such as
                                eczema

             What is Job Stress?
 Job stress can be defined as the harmful
 physical and emotional responses that occur
 when the requirements of the job do not match
 the capabilities, resources, or needs of the
 worker.

Job Conditions That May Lead to Stress

   Design of Tasks. Heavy workload, infrequent rest breaks, long work hours and
    shift-work; hectic and routine tasks that have little inherent meaning, do not
    utilize workers' skills, and provide little sense of control.

   Management Style. Lack of participation by workers in decision- making, poor
    communication in the organization, lack of family-friendly policies.

   Interpersonal Relationships. Poor social environment and lack of support or
    help from coworkers and supervisors.

   Work Roles. Conflicting or uncertain job expectations, too much responsibility,
    too many "hats to wear.“

   Career Concerns. Job insecurity and lack of opportunity for growth,
    advancement, or promotion; rapid changes for which workers are unprepared.

   Environmental Conditions. Unpleasant or dangerous physical conditions such
    as crowding, noise, air pollution, or ergonomic problems.

    relaxation techniques with deep breathing .

The Corporate Health Benefits of
    Yoga
    Yoga is unique in the sense that it can be utilized for a
    variety of reasons.
   The breathing meditation portion of Yoga is especially
    beneficial for stress relief
   Movements of the various types of Yoga are designed
    to lengthen, strengthen and tone muscles.
   Furthermore, because these exercises are merely a
    deep and focused way of breathing they can be
    performed anywhere and at any time.
   This is beneficial to the corporation because
    relaxed, pain-free employees are far more likely to be
    productive than tense and achy ones.
The Google Experience
   Google headquarters is one of the most productive
    places in the world. Extraordinarily that productivity
    is achieved in a building that looks and feels more
    like a hotel and spa than a corporate headquarters.

   Instead of taking the elevator employees take the
    slides
   Instead of sitting in an ergonomically mis-built office
    chair
   Relax in massage chairs
   Hang out at the staff gyms, libraries, canteens
The Point?
   For years Google has been sending a powerful
    message to the corporate world that has mainly
    fallen on deaf ears:

    “We care about results and not how many hours you
                    spend in the office”.

   Google provides its employees with a stress free
    work environment because stressed employees
    cannot be the productive, problem solving
    employees who launch corporations into the level of
    success Google is currently enjoying.
The Result?
   The result is that Google employees are a
    fiercely loyal, highly productive, highly
    creative, self-driven, corporate dream-team

   Employees are encouraged to take a relaxing
    coffee break or attend a Yoga class, at the
    corporate gym
