• The reason is because birth rates are declining and
longer life expectancies causes the population to consist
out of more older people.

• Contraception is one of the many ways to manage
population growth through preventing pregnancy.
• Sterilization is a permanent form of contraception.
• Many cultures and religions have different opinions over

• It is the first nation that reached the 1 billion population
mark.
• In 2010 the population was more than 1,3 billion people.
• The female fertility decreased from 6.2 children per
female in 1950 to 1,7 children per female in 2010.
• In 1985 China’s birth number was 17,8 and decreased to
13,7 in 2010.

• Gender discrimination is occurring in China where
parents rather want sons than daughter.
• This leads to infant murder where people kill female
babies, abortion of female babies occur and female
babies get neglected and they then die in their early age
of childhood.
• This leads to a population where there are more men that
women.
• There are 60 million more men than women in China.

women 85,72 years.
• The average life expectancy for Japan was 82,25 years.

10. • The older people needs to be taken care of and more
pension will have to be paid. This is expensive.
• There will be less people in the labor force and an
increased dependency ratio. This can lead to a decrease
in the countries economy.
• It also means that the government will have to spend less
on schools and health care for children.
