2. Poverty
Poverty of the people is the lacking of daily basic necessity, like money and
possessions. This will lead to them being unable to support themselves or their
family members, by means of healthcare, education, shelter, water, food.
Facts about poverty
•The richest 10% of the people in the world buys 50% of the total number of meat
produced in the world. The poorest 20% can only afford 5% of the meat produced in the
world.
•Poverty can lead to people unable to buy medicine or daily necessities so this will lead to
them dying a painful death by starvation and dehydration.
•At least 70% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day.
•The poorest 40% of the world’s population accounts for 5% of global income. The richest
20% accounts for ¾ of world-income.
•The poor does not have any say in the world politics but the rich have a say! So the poor
do not have any rights of anything.
•In Nepal, a 3rd world country, the government and the RICH control the poor.
3. Causes of poverty
• When they were young they could not care less about education, so they suffer
the impact of poverty when they face trouble of getting a job.
• Most children in Africa suffer malnutrition and dies because they have NOTHING
to eat.
• The government disregard the poor of their needs and they cannot survive in this
developing world.
• Because of global economic slowdown and rising food prices, FAO projects 100
million more people will suffer from poverty and chronic hunger by the end of
2009- an increase of 11% from 2008.
• The parents did not send their children to schools so when they grow-up they are
jobless and cannot support themselves much less their family
• When in their teens they are led astray by delinquents and when they grow-up,
they could not care less about finding jobs leading to them being poor.
• Most rich people are ignorant to the poor and could not care less about
supporting them in any ways.
4. Consequences
• People will die, therefore this will lead to an ageing
population, as people do not want to marry the
poor.
• Increase in hygiene related diseases, as poor people
live in unlivable conditions.
• More people live on the streets and there will be
overcrowding in the more densely populated
countries like China, Africa, Nepal.
• Large number of unemployment in the country and
the country economy will be affected.
• Increase in crime rate and the countries would be a
dangerous environment to live in.
5. The Cure
• We could organize a charity show for the poor, thus allowing them public
and even the rich to raise awareness about the problems of the poor.
• Give them free education, so the poor can have a chance of having a
proper job in the future.
• Overpopulation is a factor of poverty, thus, if the people are spreaded out
to more areas, it can tackle this problem, allow more jobs to be created,
more food for people, and solve poverty.
• Given more health facilities in the country, the people can have more
healthcare services. This then improve their health and will save
expenditure on medicine for the poor.
