WE HAVE A QUICK CATCH UP WITH
‘ROYALTY PREVAILS’ VERY OWN
KATIE CREEGAN AS THEY MAKE
THEIR WAY UP THE
METAPHORICAL LADDER OF
SUCCESS!
Usually when you hear the words ‘The
World Outside’ you thinkof nature and
the wonders of life. Not the immense
new album by 21 year old Katie Creegan,
and her band ‘Royalty Prevails’, which is
being released this week (Guys, I’ve
heard it and its awesome). I’m joined by
Katie as we talk about the hardships she
her and the band had to face during the
intense song writing period and what
‘Royalty Prevails’ have in store for the
future.
So, Katie, how does it feel to have finally
finished your new album?
Honestly, I’m relieved. Now I won’t have
to live on Starbucks coffee and energy
bars!
Haha! And what was the inspiration
behind the album name “The World
Outside”?
Well, I started writing the songs for this
album when I was going through quite a
rough patch in my life. My grandfather
had just died and though my bandmates
were a great help, music was my therapy.
Writing down what I was feeling helped
me recover from the shock and get back
to what I love doing most.
I’m sorry to hear about that. Do you
think you’ll be ok to do the Reach! Tour?
Hell Yeah! [Air fist bump] Sorry I mean
yes I will be able to do the Reach! Tour.
This time round were going all over
Europe as well as some states in the US. I
suggest you keep posted on our website
for the tour dates and tickets. They go on
sale on the 31st of March.
That’s the spirit! As well as creating a
new album you have also headlined at
BroFest and been the opening act of
Famous band Bring Me The Horizon in
the same week. That must have been a
good week?
It really was. BroFest was actually
amazing! It was such a rush being on a
stage that big in front of so many people.
At first I was terrified of going out there
but there were so many nice people
backstage who helped me get through it.
As for the Bring Me The Horizon gig, it was
epic! Oli and the guys were so nice and
afterwards we all went for a drink at the
club across the street [smiles] everyone
says he’s horrible but he’s actually a great
guy.
Let’s raise the tone here, I heard that
you’re going to be playing at Leeds in a
couple of months and there are a lot of
American artists that are going to be
there. Do you think Britain will rule over
Leeds this year like they did the last
couple of years? And who else go you
thinks gonna be there?
I think Britain will rule over Leeds like it
should do! It’s gonna be ace. I know there
will be loads of amazing bands there and I

can’t wait to go. I think Bring Me the
Horizon is going to be there and All Time
Low as well. Asking Alexandria has been
mentioned but I’m not sure if they will be
making an appearance.
I hope they attend! That would be
amazing!! So are you planning on playing
songs from your new album or are you
going to freestyle it like you did for
Glastonbury?
We do plan on performing songs from the
new album but we were thinking of trying
a new type of sound while at Leeds. We
have started writing songs for the new
album already and thought we could try
them out and see how people react.
Personally, I thought freestyling it worked
really well last time but Shauna
(Nicholson) just shushed me and that was
the last I heard of it.
I can imagine Shauna shushing you now! I
hope you do freestyle ‘cause it made the
experience for the fans a lot better. I
heard that We Are The In Crowd copied
your technique at their last gig as well.
Did you plan that?
Really? That’s awesome! I honestly had no
idea that they did that! WATIC has been
one of my favourite bands for a long time
now and I’m proud to say that Taylor
(Jardine) is a really good friend of mine. I
was thinking about writing a song with
them for the next album!
Next album? Already? You’ve just
finished this one and you’re already
thinking of ideas for the next one. That’s
dedication. Can we have an inside to
what might be coming or is it all hush
hush?
Well Tom (Ross) thought it would be a
good idea if we did an album that’s just
full of colabs with other singers. We were
planning on asking people like Taylor and
Oli, maybe even Alex (Gaskarth). I think it
will be a great idea, I hope my singer
friends will agree to write songs with us.
I think people will agree to sing with you.
I know I would! Haha, do you have any
names planned or are you just coming up
with singers?
Well I‘ve been playing around with names
but none that are good enough yet. I do
have some other people in mind but I
can’t give too much away otherwise it
won’t be as fun to reveal it when it’s
done!
That’s very true! Okay then, thank you so
much for coming to talk to us Katie!
You’ve been great!
No, thank you for allowing me to
participate in this wondrous interview!! I
have no idea why I said it like that but it
has been fun!
