Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide
variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate
information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited
responsibility for the output of others. Job roles may include – administrator, project officer.
Employability Skills Industry/enterprise requirements for this qualification include:
Communication communicating with business contacts and team members to promote products and services, give
and receive feedback, and negotiate effectively to address conflicts reading, interpreting, writing
and presenting reports
Teamwork supporting team members in developing skills and knowledge relating to products and services
working within own role to support team activities
Problem-solving finding, analysing and interpreting data which may be incomplete or have discrepancies making
decisions to complete tasks in a time efficient manner
Initiative and
enterprise
contributing to strategic direction of enterprise identifying learning opportunities to improve work
practices
Planning and
organising
organising information relating to products and/or services into databases organising resources,
equipment and time lines planning for contingencies
Self-management evaluating own performance and identifying areas for improvement managing time to

All 10 units make up the whole of Certificate IV in Business. Each unit has a set of assessment standards which must be
achieved by the student for them to be awarded with a satisfactory result in the unit. All assessment submissions must
be written and spoken in English.
Students enrolled in Part B Vocational Skills English Certificate IV in Business are not required to attend face to face
class instruction. Students are to complete the assessment tasks on their own throughout a 12 months timeframe.
This means that from date of enrolment students must complete all 10 units within twelve (12) months submitting
assessments as they complete each unit. Should assistance be required by the student during this period it is available
through online access to qualified instructions.

CONDITIONS FOR ASSESSMENT SUBMISSIONS
•All assessment submissions must be completed in written and verbal English using the Vocational skills English that
student learnt in Part A of Certificate IV in Business.
•Assessment material must be student’s original work, created by the student using their skills and knowledge of
the subject. Material that has been copied from other sources will be rejected.
•There are two assessment tasks for each of the units. Part A may involve a typed written document, portfolio,
video or audio recording. Part B involves a student audio interview or video interview with their allocated assessor.
This may be conducted face to face or through an online environment.
•Submission of assessment material must be made via the online submission template. The submissions are to be
emailed to student’s allocated assessor.
•Assessor will provide evidence of a successful or not successful result to the student. If a submission is not
successful the student is able to make adjustments and resubmit their work.
•There is no set order in which to submit the unit assessments. It is a choice made by the student.
STRATEGY FOR ASSESSMENT.
•The critical aspects for assessment required to demonstrate competency in each unit form the main checklist for a
successful or not successful submission in each unit.
•The elements and performance criteria are tasks a student needs to complete in order to build evidence to
achieve the critical aspects for assessment.
•The skills and knowledge are guidelines the student can use to ensure they are obtaining the information required
to submit a comprehensive demonstration for the critical aspects for assessment.

  • 2. 2Certificate IV in Business Certificate IV in Business Description This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. Job roles may include – administrator, project officer. Employability Skills Industry/enterprise requirements for this qualification include: Communication communicating with business contacts and team members to promote products and services, give and receive feedback, and negotiate effectively to address conflicts reading, interpreting, writing and presenting reports Teamwork supporting team members in developing skills and knowledge relating to products and services working within own role to support team activities Problem-solving finding, analysing and interpreting data which may be incomplete or have discrepancies making decisions to complete tasks in a time efficient manner Initiative and enterprise contributing to strategic direction of enterprise identifying learning opportunities to improve work practices Planning and organising organising information relating to products and/or services into databases organising resources, equipment and time lines planning for contingencies Self-management evaluating own performance and identifying areas for improvement managing time to independently complete tasks Learning participating in professional networks and associations to obtain and maintain knowledge and skills Technology using business technology such as the internet and mobile phones to communicate with other people using business technology to collect, analyse and provide information

There are 10 units to be completed. 1 core and 9 electives. •BSBWHS401A Implement and monitor WHS (work, health and safety) policies, procedures and programmes to meet legislative requirements. CORE •BSBCUS402B Address customer needs. ELECTIVE •BSBCUS403B Implement customer service standards. ELECTIVE •BSBINN301A Promote innovation in a team environment. ELECTIVE •BSBCMM401A Make a presentation. ELECTIVE •BSBMKG413A Promote products and services. ELECTIVE •BSBMKG414B Undertake marketing activities. ELECTIVE •BSBREL401A Establish networks. ELECTIVE •BSBSUS301A Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices. ELECTIVE •BSBWRT401A Write complex document. ELECTIVE All 10 units make up the whole of Certificate IV in Business. Each unit has a set of assessment standards which must be achieved by the student for them to be awarded with a satisfactory result in the unit. All assessment submissions must be written and spoken in English. Students enrolled in Part B Vocational Skills English Certificate IV in Business are not required to attend face to face class instruction. Students are to complete the assessment tasks on their own throughout a 12 months timeframe. This means that from date of enrolment students must complete all 10 units within twelve (12) months submitting assessments as they complete each unit. Should assistance be required by the student during this period it is available through online access to qualified instructions.
  • 4. 4Certificate IV in Business CONDITIONS FOR ASSESSMENT SUBMISSIONS •All assessment submissions must be completed in written and verbal English using the Vocational skills English that student learnt in Part A of Certificate IV in Business. •Assessment material must be student’s original work, created by the student using their skills and knowledge of the subject. Material that has been copied from other sources will be rejected. •There are two assessment tasks for each of the units. Part A may involve a typed written document, portfolio, video or audio recording. Part B involves a student audio interview or video interview with their allocated assessor. This may be conducted face to face or through an online environment. •Submission of assessment material must be made via the online submission template. The submissions are to be emailed to student’s allocated assessor. •Assessor will provide evidence of a successful or not successful result to the student. If a submission is not successful the student is able to make adjustments and resubmit their work. •There is no set order in which to submit the unit assessments. It is a choice made by the student. STRATEGY FOR ASSESSMENT. •The critical aspects for assessment required to demonstrate competency in each unit form the main checklist for a successful or not successful submission in each unit. •The elements and performance criteria are tasks a student needs to complete in order to build evidence to achieve the critical aspects for assessment. •The skills and knowledge are guidelines the student can use to ensure they are obtaining the information required to submit a comprehensive demonstration for the critical aspects for assessment.
