1. How does my media product
represent particular social groups?
2. Social groups
My magazine represents rock and metal social groups mainly
through the images I took. With my images, I took into account the
lighting, props, clothing and location. The images in my magazine
play a big part in telling what the genre of the magazine. I have also
represented different social groups through my colour schemes and
fonts.
3. Images
•Demographics
When taking the pictures for my magazine, i wanted to use mainly
males rather than females as most rock and metal bands have all
male members. I also used people that were in their late teens as i
wanted my magazine to appeal to my target audience so i thought if
the members were the same age as my audience, it would make my
magazine more successful.
•Target audience
I tried to appeal to my target audience through the clothing and
props in my images. I wanted the people to wear casual darkish
clothes as this is what most rock and metal fans and bands wear. I
took most of my images in a practise music to show all the different
instruments that are traditionally used by rock and metal bands e.g
Guitars and Drums.
4. Fonts and Colour schemes
•Colours
In my magazine, i wanted to appeal to rock and metal fans as much
as possible so i used a colour scheme similar to some existing rock
music magazines. I used Black as this is a dark colour which appeals
to rock and metal fans as they tend to wear dark clothes. I used red
to represent blood as some rock and metal songs base their lyrics on
anger and crime.
•Fonts
For my masthead i used a large, unique font that would stand out and
give the impression it was in your face. I thought this would appeal to
metal fans as most songs are include shouting and screaming.
