1. Q1. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. In the production of my magazine I have haven't really challenged the form and conventions
that are used in the production of rock music magazines such as the structure and content
of the magazine e.g. the focus of the magazine that i have produced on the main artist that I
have featured in the magazine (Akos). The colours that I have used are related to the angst
that is related to the genre of music (rock) that I have chosen for the magazine that I have
chosen for the magazine that I have produced (Black and grey).
3. Examples of this is that in the contents
page I have produced a messy and
anarchic layout that with lots of different
fonts and colours so that it will match the
rebellious and anarchic feel that I have
created for my magazine. This is different
from normal magazines that are produced
on this genre of music because the text
isn’t split up into small square blocks that
are under one main generic description of
what the content of the pages will be.
I have challenge the forms and conventions of the music magazine by producing a unique
layout for the contents page and article that I have produced.
4. The use of contrasting colours that I have used for the the header
of the contents page represents that the clash and
antiestablishment that is associated with the genre of music that I
have chosen for my music magazine (Rock). Also the font that has
been used for that header of this page is also related to that
genre of music that I have chosen by designing the header in the
way that I have gives that contents page the rock and anarchic
aesthetic that I have created throughout my music magazine, the
anarchic and messy feel that I have created for the contents page
is going against the normal aesthetic and structure that
mainstream music magazines use which doesn't’t truly represent
rock music as a genre.
5. As the main feature of my contents
page I have used an image of the main
artist that is featured in the magazine
and that is on the cover to one side of
the page so that so that the text can
form around the image instead of
having the text as the main feature of
the page using the image as a side
feature that isn’t as important and
prominent on the page.
6.
7. The evidence of me challenging the forms and conventions of my article is not I the text but it is also in
the overall layout of my article and the by using a minimal rage of colours in the article and also using a
some candid photos as a feature of the article which is unusual for high profile magazines who use
professional photos that have been taken in a studio. I chose not to do his for all of the photos that I
have used in my article for my magazine because I really wanted to capture the true side of Akos as an
artist and what he is like when he isn’t be watched by millions of people. Also instead of using a plain
boring piece of text for the heading of the article I have used a font that is relevant to the genre of
music that I have chosen for the music magazine that have produced and I have also given the heading
its own background graphic to really give it the feeling that rock music give people.
8. If I were to challenge the forms and conventions that are used for music magazine I would
do that by producing the front cover, contents page and article in a way that is not used in
main stream music magazines such as having a very anarchic and messy layout for the cover
and the contents page and then use a fist person account and opinion for the article instead
of having a the account of an interview that with lost of questions and answers.
9. I chose the genre of music for the music magazine that is have produced because the style
of music and the way of life that is associated with the genre is known world wide as being
a style of music that always goes against the normal conventions and expectations that
people have for the artists and the songs. An example of going against the regular
conventions in rock music is the use of dissonance and clashes. This then transpires into
there everyday life through the types of clothes that they wear and the constant
connotation of wanting to clash and go against authority and the social norms.
The anarchic life style, the type of music that is produced by artists and the aesthetic that
they have is the overall feel and aesthetic that I have tried to give the rock music magazine
that I have produced so that it goes against the forms and conventions of normal music
magazines such as Rolling Stone and Kerrang magazines.
10. The people that my magazine will represent are the types of people who
wear leather jackets, black eye makeup, have long hair and love the sounds
that the dissonance and the over all anarchic feel that rock music provides.
