    ESOL Instructional Assistant (IA)


      Job   Description:
           The ESOL IA’s are responsible for
       assisting the teacher in organizing and
      implementing an instructional, academic
       program. ESOL IA’s work under direct
               supervision of a teacher.
+                                 In-class teacher assistance
                                      Use home language when necessary
                                      Work with small groups

                                  ESOL Resource Teacher Assistance
 What are my                          Administer IPT oral test(if trained)
                                      Help Parent Advisory Council meetings
  duties?
                                  Home/School Communications
                                      Translations of school
Duties for ESOL IA’s include           announcements, teacher notes,..
  but are not limited to…             Contact ELL’s home by phone using
                                       the home language, when needed.

                                  Other duties, as required by school
                                      Fulfill same type and range of duties
                                       as other instructional assistants
                                       (e.g.,lunch duty)
