This document summarizes how a media product represents a particular social group. Specifically, it represents 15 to 21 year olds who enjoy chart music and up-and-coming pop artists. This is evident through the interviews and content featured in the magazine, which focus on this music genre. The photos in the magazine also represent this group by keeping images plain with clear backgrounds, focusing on the person rather than elaborate backgrounds. This helps keep the tone fun while still being simple, mirroring the childlike nature of the target demographic.
1. Question 2 : How does your
media product represent
particular social groups?
2. The Social groups that I represent in my magazine are 15
to 21 year olds. The reason why I am representing this age
range is because this is an age group that usually like chart
music and up and coming pop artists which is what my
magazine represents. I have represented this group of
people and the music they like by what is in my magazine
such as my interview on my double page. I think the social
group I have chosen fits with the style of the magazine.
3. I think the photos I have put in my magazine are similar to
the magazine I have researched as my images are plain
with mainly no props and clear, plain white backgrounds so
the reader has to focus on the person in the image instead
of the background image and I have tried to keep the
images fun part of the images and uses them in my images
by making my model stick her tongue out in a childish way.
I think keeping the images simple but fun is the essential
part of my magazine. All of the people in my images look
happy and so do the images in the magazine I have
research there images have a childlike assents about them
which makes it fun and more appealing. I think the
language used I think the language also represents my
social group quite well as the language is informal and
chatty and doesn’t have a lot of writing.
