Project Description:
The project started in January 2012 when applying
for an official TEDx license. In August 2012 the
TEDxKaliningrad team was put in place, October
2012 - first TEDxKaliningrad conference took place,
and this has spurred many local initiatives. The
TEDxKaliningrad team has been growing
continuously, also helping many other non-profit
projects in the region, and it is a big part of Global
Shapers HUB Kaliningrad.
Regional reach, medium, 50% hub involvement

Project Objective:
• popularize speaking in public
• aid networking of active people from different fields
• create conditions for building new teams and
projects

Results:
• 2 events are organized
• Over 200 people are inspired
• Loyal audience in social networks is
created
• Around 10 projects started at TEDxplatform
Project Description:
Independent travels, citizens of foreign
countries and expats share their experience,
impressions, helpful tips and opinions.
Local reach, light, 100% hub involvement

Project Objective:
 Inspire people for change by travelling and gaining
new experience
 Giving first-hand information about foreign
countries, breaking stereotypes;
 Crowd-funding for other social projects

Results:

9 meetings are conducted
Around 250 people are inspired
Collected money are directed to
renovation of new public space in the
region “Vorota”
Loyal audience is attracted
Project Description:
Informal meetings where people discuss some
science topics during the cup of coffee or tea.
Every meeting has one speaker and one
subject, any questions are welcome.
Local reach, light, 100% hub involvement

Project Objective:
 Inspire people for change by gaining new
knowledge
 Giving first-hand information about scientific facts
and theories, break stereotypes
 “Bring science to culture”
 Crowd-funding for other social projects
Results:
 5 meetings are conducted
 Around 100 people are inspired
 Collected money are directed to
renovation of new public space in the

 Loyal audience is attracted
 First experience of interacting with nonscientific audience took place
Project Description:
Search for new tendencies in public life,
presentation of these tendencies by people
who regularly do it .

Project Objective:
 Inspire people for change by gaining new
knowledge in sphere of world-trends
 Giving first-hand information about world-trends,
break stereotypes
 Crowd-funding for other social projects

Results:
 2 meetings are conducted
 Around 50 people are inspired

Project Description:

Project Objective:

The project started as a series of startup events in collaboration with
Kaliningrad IT-cluster. Later has become a complex project with the
aim of building a strong ecosystem in the region.
Stages:
1. February 2013, the first ever hackathon in the region.
2. March 2013, first Regional Final “ImagineCup” by Microsoft.
3. April 2013, the first local event of “Russian Startup Tour Road
Show”
4. May 2013, Kaliningrad startups participating in the Global Russian
Startup Village in Moscow. Anna Khan (Global Shaper HUB
Kaliningrad) was invited as a speaker of main panel
5. May-July 2013 Opening/ Closing of the first co-working center in
Kaliningrad
6. August 2013,The first international hackathon Garage48 in
Kaliningrad.
7. September 2013, The first Startup Sauna Warm Up in Kaliningrad.
8. September 2013, Kaliningrad startups participating in Startup event
in Poland.
9. November 2013, Kaliningrad startups go to the international startup
conference "Slush" in Helsinki.
10. Earlydays Kaliningrad
11. Plans are to build an IT-park, IT-education center, produce new
English-speaking Media, organize a Startup Weekend.

- increase the number of qualified IT-specialists graduating every year
- involve engineers into the business environment
- involve businessman into the IT-industry
- create new Media (English-speaking talking about startups of the region)
- help Government in building an IT-park in Kaliningrad
- attract ventures, business angels, investors
- attract startups and engineers from abroad and Russia to move to Kaliningrad
- promote the region abroad

Results:
• Startup community exist and has been growing
• Visible improvement of all objectives
Project Description:
Every evening several volunteers give a soup
and a bread to homeless people. Also they
communicate, suggest some help and give
information about helping centers as social
flophouses, drug and alcohol treatment
centers, hospitals.

Project Objective:
 Inspire homeless people for change by giving
support and some useful information
 Socialization of homeless people

Local reach, medium, 20% hub involvement
Results:
• 2 volunteers from Global shapers hub
Kaliningrad participate in the project
• Sustainable source of support for
homeless people is created
• 5 people turned back to normal life
Project Description:
Creation of the programme and conducting
the session within the main international
north-west youth forum “Baltic Artek – 2013”

Regional reach, medium, 50% hub involvement

Project Objective:
Creation of community of “future shapers” in the
north-western part of Russia

in cooperation with Kharkov Hub

International Day of Girls is celebrated in Kaliningrad
by screening GirlsRising movie and having discussion
on girls’ access to education.
Projects was initiated by St. Petersburg GSH and
supported by Kaliningrad, Sevastopol, Moscow,
Samara, Yaroslavl, Yekatirenburg.

Project Description:
Renovation of the old German building “Zakheim
tor” into public space for young people, and
supporting some social initiatives there
(exhibitions, discussions, gatherings, etc)

Project Objective:
 Create new public space for young people of
Kaliningrad by renovation of an old building
 Attract local community to creation of the new public
space using crowd-funding tools
 Improve comfort level of local environment , by
making this district more attractive for local citizens
and tourists
 Inspire local community for action on improving their
environment by themselves

Results:
• Series of local gatherings are conducted
• Place is ready for hosting social events
• First Kaliningrad example of crowdsourcing on federal platform took place
• 50% of necessary sum is collected
Project Description:
The Working Group on the law of WTO is the
result of cooperation of the Ministry of industrial
policy, development of entrpreneurship and
trade of Kaliningrad region, Center for WTO Law
of I. Kant Baltic Federal University and Global
Shapers Hub Kaliningrad.
The group is intended to conduct research on
the hot issues of the law of WTO which are
provided by the Ministry.
The group consists of 12 students and 4
supervisors – lecturers at the I. Kant BFU.
As a result of research the group submits a
paper with conclusions to the Ministry.

• Practical application of the academic research by
interested state organs and enterprises
• Preparation of specialists of WTO law
• Education of students on legal issues of WTO

• Working group is created
• Fields of research are defined
• Motivating meeting in regional ministry of

• Introductory lectures are conducted
Project Description:
An event which is devoted to blind people, which is
going to be in a city restaurant. Every guest will get
an opportunity to fell blindness and to have dinner in
complete darkness, served by blind people as
waitresses.

Project Objective:
• Collecting money for association of blind people (%
of profit)
• Increasing loyalty level to blind people

Project Description:
Educational course created in San-Francisko by
Yuriy Lifshitz for active entrepreneurs or early
stage project leaders, Idea-stage entrepreneurs
and teams, lifestyle entrepreneurs, wishing to
make a hobby into a business, professionals,
creating your own business instead of working
for someone else. Consists of online part - 20
video-lectures, and offline - individual
consultings with local experts, focus on first
revenue and three months plan. Graduation day
and choosing the best projects and support
after finish

Project Description: The Working Group on the law of WTO is the result of cooperation of the Ministry of industrial policy, development of entrpreneurship and trade of Kaliningrad region, Center for WTO Law of I. Kant Baltic Federal University and Global Shapers Hub Kaliningrad. The group is intended to conduct research on the hot issues of the law of WTO which are provided by the Ministry. The group consists of 12 students and 4 supervisors – lecturers at the I. Kant BFU. As a result of research the group submits a paper with conclusions to the Ministry.
