Q: How will two years at OCLD add value to what I learnt during my hotel management diploma?
A: As part of your Hotel Management Diploma, you would have focused on general hotel operations. At OCLD we teach
and train you on the systems and processes practiced in The Oberoi Group. Most of the faculty have been through OCLD
themselves and have worked in the operations of our hotels for some years.
Q: I am in my final year at university, in a graduate course other than hotel management. If I get into OCLD, will I be
able to keep up with the people who have already completed three years at a hotel management college?
A: The faculty appreciates the challenges that you will face. Each module has been formulated to build your technical
skills and knowledge step-by-step. The lessons are appropriately supported by the usual range of learning materials.
What at first might look quite challenging is in fact well thought out and therefore easy to follow.
Q: What are the aspects of life at OCLD that have the greatest impact?

22. The oberoi- CSR activities
 On 18th February 2012 the associates visited an old age home called ‘Nirmal Hriday’ which is a charity run by
the Mother Teresa’s trust for old and disabled destitute. They carried fruits and a dessert prepared by them
along with some daily supplies and medicines. The associates spent quality time with the inhabitants making
them sing and dance and left them with fond memories.
 The second event was a ‘Day Out’ at OCLD organized on 24th February 2012 for the children of Salam Balak - an
NGO which provides shelter and takes care of street kids. Forty children aged 5 to 13 years came to the OCLD
campus. The associates made lunch at the OCLD kitchen for the children; organised sports activities, a T-shirt
painting competition and a short cultural program. The day ended on a joyous note for the kids when they were
presented prizes and gift hampers.
 The oberoi Sahl Hasheesh is a certified "Silver member of Earth Check" and is committed to sustained
Corporate Social Responsibility. One such regular activity driven by the passion of The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh
team involves the cleaning of the surrounding areas of the hotel and the adjoining beach. This initiative is self-
driven by a schedule which rotates the responsibility of the “cleaning day” to be organized by a different
department each month. The entire team enthusiastically participates in this activity and sets an example for
other hotels in Hurghada to follow.
