▶ Active and engaged students
▶ A community that understands its own
needs
4. The CKP Philosophy
▶ 1) Students recover food that would go to waste
▶ 2) Students prepare meals in dining hall kitchens
▶ 3) Deliver meals to those in need in the community

This Fall!
▶ Want $5,000 to help start your Campus Kitchen?
▶ If you are looking for the best way to plan your Campus Kitchen and receive funding
for the launch of the program, I would highly recommend qualifying for our
upcoming launch grant video competition. Competing in a grant competition is the
best way to set a strong foundation of support for your Campus Kitchen. To qualify,
you just need to complete these 4 initial steps:
▶ Letter of support from staff sponsor
▶ Letter of support from dining services
▶ Letter of support from students
▶ Letter of intent to sign our contract from administration

14. Boot Camp in Washington, D.C.
August 7-9
▶ Boot Camp is a three day intensive, hands-on training that
focuses on the skills to run a successful Campus Kitchen.
▶ You will have the chance to meet other students from schools
around the country engaged in the same movement.
▶ This is an amazing way to hit the ground running when you
return to your campus in the fall.
▶ We are offering up to $250 for travel scholarships.
▶ Name and email to Hannah at the end of session if you are
interested
15. A Perfect Partnership:
The Campus Kitchens Project & Bonner
▶ A Generation Raised on Service
▶ Lindsey Wilson College: https://youtu.be/tAeYxg1Lq2M
▶ University of Houston
▶ Washington and Lee University
17. Planning
▶ Spent a whole summer on campus working out the fine details of the
program
▶ CKP provided an online planner through Trello (now CKP uses “The
Center”) which made the process a breeze
▶ Talked with potential partners, clients and local farmers who would be
willing to help
▶ Sent out leadership team applications
▶ Met with owners of grocery stores (here we have Walmart and IGA)
▶ We are partners with our local IGA and recover bread from them every
day
▶ Still figuring out how to use all of the bread we receive!
▶ This has given us a new partnership with the local crisis resource
center
▶ Location: where were we going to store and cook our meals?
▶ How were we going to deliver them?
▶ How were we going to get clients?
