1. Fame
The new remake of fame was made to please younger viewers especially those
who want to go to performing art school.
The title of the movie FAME adapts to what the characters in the movie are trying
to achieve. The Moral of the story is to teach pre-teens that wanting to be famous
is hard work, you have to want something so much to actually get it. It also shows
that there are millions of talented people out there with as much talent and skills
as you, but in order to make it you have to have confident and strive for your goal,
your potential is what gets you through.
Kevin Tancharoen’s remake of the modern day version Fame reflects on the
present day life of teenagers who want to make it into the best performing arts
school in New York City. It starts it off with the rehearsals of thousands of hopeful
who have to perform in front of grimfaced teacher in order to get closer to FAME.
The new remake of Fame didn’t originally appeal to me until I watched it, to me I
thought it would just be another high school except it had more dancing and
acting and singing it also didn’t involve basketball. The remake of the film
reached out to me, because it’s about everyday live and what teenagers like me
go through for example rejection, and how most teenager’s espier to become
famous. The movie shows the reality of life and that it’s not always easy to
achieve. Some scenes of the film interacts with the viewers some like I may feel
like they are actually there with the characters and feel what there going throw for
example the scene were Denise sits there and sings to herself, The emotion
she’s feeling hit’s you and you start feeling that emotion for yourself.
A few scenes dedicated to every day life for some teenagers. Some teenagers go
through the disapproval of their parents and that what portrayed in the film. Denis
(Naturi Naughton) a talented pianist who wants to do more than play the piano.
She wanted to be a performer sing and please her audience. The night she was
singing to herself not knowing she was being watched by her fellow peer, Malik
(Collins Penne). Malik knows talent when he sees it so he convinced her to sing
on his and his close friend victor’s (Walter Perez) mix tape. She has to hide her
talent from her parents mainly her father who doesn’t take interest in what she
wants to do but what he thinks is best for her.

2. She has to make the decision of following her dreams or doing has her parents
wish and following their dreams.
Malik is going through the same phase with having to deal with the death of his
younger sister and having to prove to his single mother that he is more than a
talented person who can rap like every other kid on block, hw wants to prove to
his mum that he has more to offer to the world of music.
The College did not look as dazzling as I expected it to be I expected the set to
have big classrooms high Tec equipment, big piano’s etc, but really all it had was
a normal performing space for music, drama and dance it had normal school
facilities and classrooms, the dining room was not as big as the one in high
school musical and that was meant to be a high school not a university. It was
nothing special. The costumes were not really costumes because it was everyday
casual clothes unless of course you had dance which you the normal outfit was
leggings and a top and a pair of ballet shoes, or in one scene were they had the
Halloween party they were all obviously dressed as something e.g. a fairy and the
dancers had masks to cover their identities.
The camera angles suited the scenes whether it was a sad scene or a happy
scene. The angles were close enough sometimes to see the emotion and
sometimes far away to build suspension. When ever in the movie a recording was
being home made the camera would show the movement of the person in control
of the camera. Lighting also related to the scene for example the same
Halloween scene there wasn’t flash lights and disco lights there was all lights off
and just the neon coloured lights this gave the audience excitement because they
didn’t know what was going to happen, to build atmosphere. And another scene
when Denise was by herself there was light in the corner big and then one light
on her to show she was by herself feeling isolated that’s what gave the interaction
with the audience.
The music was mainly hip pop and a hint of classical musical ballet type.
The hip hop clashed with Denise’s voice when she was performing with Malik and
Victor it made people want to get up and dance, because it was common music
that we listen to every day and the emotion that came with the singing was breath
taking. The ballet music didn’t take your attention away in a bad way because it
was mixed with hip pop in order for the tap dancer and ballet dancers to flow with
the rhythm.
The set design was basically just a big stage were the performing arts students
would perform it was in a hall which sort of resembled the Theatre Royal. The last
scene was performed on that stage except there was a set built on it with curtains
so each character could come out when it was there turn to show their talent.

3. Once again the lighting show another big part in the last scene, there was dim
lights to start with for the first ballet dancer this created a mood for the audience
and the dancer, after a few seconds of the emotional breath taking performance
by the solo dancer, The mood was lifted as flashier and bigger light came on for
the duet sang by Denise and Malik this gave the audience the hint that they were
about to be blown away by talent, this carried on as the quior came out sing. The
music started off slow when there was ballet dancing and faster when the tap
dancers came out this made you want to jump out of your seats and join in. All
this made the last scene enjoyable to the audience.
My overall opinion of the film is that it was inspiring, it shows you the reality of life
not like other musicals that always have the same scenario with the popular girl
etc i.e. high school musical. It show you that not everything in life is simple and
that you have to work hard in order to get somewhere also not to give up when
you fall down on your first step and that sometimes your parents will not always
agree with what you want but you have to show that you have potential for what
you do and that you could far. You can come from the most broken homes a
single mother, no support, money shortage, but that doesn’t matter as long as
you have talent and you want to succeed.
