Graphs
• Graphs area way to quickly and visually
display information or data.
• There are three major types of graphs
(line, bar, and pie graphs)
3.
Line Graph
Line graphssummarize how two pieces of
information are related and how they vary
depending on one another
4.
Bar graph
Bar graphsconsist of an axis and a series of
labeled horizontal or vertical bars that show
different values for each bar.
5.
Pie graphs
A piegraph is a circle graph divided into pieces,
each displaying the size of some related piece
of information. Pie charts are used to display
the sizes of parts that make up some whole.
6.
Interpreting Data
• Tointerpret (or “read”) a graph, find the
information you are looking for along either
the “x” or “y” axis. Follow that line along until
you find the point value that corresponds with
a number value on the opposite axis.
• In pie graphs, the larger the slice, the larger
that piece of information is represented in the
data.
