Sterilization refers to any process that eliminates, removes, kills, or deactivates all forms of life and other biological agents from pharma products. So this study plays a vital role to get sterilized Products.
3. It is defined as any process that effectively kills or
eliminates transmissible agents ( i.e. fungi, viruses,
bacteria or prions) from a surface, equipment, foods,
medications or biological culture media.
4. Terminal Sterilization:
Low temperature sterilization
process (115°C).
Moist Heat
Sterilization:
• Done by spraying hot water on the product units in the
sterilizer.
• NOT use steam.
• E.g.: large volume parenteral (LVP), small volume
parenteral (SVP), ophthalmic products etc.
Irradiation &
Sterilization by
ethylene
oxide:
• Useful for the products those are highly heat sensitive.
• E.g.: Pre-filled syringe and other medical devices.
6. It is defined as the processing of
drug components (e.g. drug
product, container, closure,
excipient) in a manner that
precludes microbial
contamination of the final sealed
products.
