In recent years, Georgia has made first steps to address the problem of violence against children. In 2010, a joint Ministerial decree concerning identification of violence, appropriate referral, response, and coordination by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs laid the grounds for the development of a national child protection referral system. Adding psychologists to the staff of the Social Service Agency in 2013 with the primary task to identify and address violence against children further advanced the system. In order to analyse barriers to ending violence against children in Georgia and to review the progress of the child protection referral system, two studies were undertaken by UNICEF in 2012-2013. The studies assessed the perception of general public on violence against children and functioning of the referral procedures from the perspective of professionals involved in implementation of the system. The two studies have to be considered in combination to get a complete picture of the situation of violence against children in Georgia and issues around functioning of the child protection referral system.

Running head: THE RAMAYANA AND SEI SHONAGON 1 Running Head: JUVENILE SYSTEM 4 Tommy K. Bush Sr. CJ 3325 Juvenile Justice Dr. Oliver November 28, 2013 Abstract In America, it is noted that the American justice system dealing with juveniles has developed over the past century. This has been due to the distinguishing difference existing from the criminal justice system. As a result, the purpose of this article is to articulate why the juvenile justice system is better than the criminal system of justice. The paper is going to give a brief introduction of the juvenile system of justice and later on, state the importance of the juvenile process. An overview of how the juvenile system is adopted across the American State will be shown. This will give the reader a rough awareness of how the justice system has brought change in the country in terms of crime reduction. Giving statistics of the various criminal activities will expand on this point further, and thus, readers will be able to understand why the juvenile justice system is vital. The essay purposes to elaborate why the juvenile justice system is preferred and thus, will give an in-depth understanding of how the system contributes to the youths’ greater amenability to treatment. The conclusion will be a summary of the main ideas and points argued in the essay and emphasize on the importance of juvenile justice systems. Introduction In 1899, in Chicago (Illinois), the first juvenile court was established. Policy makers, citizens, and professionals continue debating on why juvenile offenders should be tried and sentenced differently from adult offenders. To the public, the aspect of trying juveniles as adults is a controversial topic. As such, the principle of establishing these juvenile courts was for individualized justice and their main focus was on rehabilitating, caring, and treating the youthful offenders and not punishing them. The juveniles talked about in this case fall under 18 years of age, nonetheless in some American States there is variance in terms of the legal age. According to recent research conducted, it is evident that the human brain continues to develop throughout adolescence. The pre-frontal cortex (part of the brain responsible for function execution and complex reasoning) is not fully matured until the mid-twenties (Scott & Steinberg, 2008). Therefore, for adolescents, their brain is not fully matured hence; their thought and decision-making processes are different from those of the adult. For instance, for adolescents, it is developmentally normative to take greater risks and show susceptibility to influences from their peers than adults. As such, these normal differences contribute to behaviors that have led many adolescents to their involvement with the juvenile justice system. Some of the risk factors .

Thoracotomy is the surgical procedure with an incision made to access the pleural space and the contents of the thoracic cavity. Given the structures to be accessed with in the cavity, different incisions have been established to easy the procedure and these incisions qualify the types of thoracotomies to be studied hereunder. PRE OP OPTIMIZATION FOR SPECIFIC FACTORS The outcome of surgical procedures is not measured only by clinical end points but also shorter stays and lower costs. Patients’ discharge is delayed commonly due to inadequate pain relief, infection, arrhythmias, prolonged air leak and debility. Many complications that occur from thoracic operations can be anticipated. An aggressive preoperative work up mitigates morbidity and shortens convalescence. APPROACH CONSIDERATIONS There are about three principles that can guides the choice of the thoracotomy incision to be used I. Adequate exposure must be achieved. The choice of incision is aided by a thorough understanding of the surface anatomy and a comprehensive review of the radiographic images that are obtained preoperatively. II. Chest-wall function and appearance should be preserved to the extent possible. This principle include non-spreading video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) procedures, muscle-sparing techniques, avoidance of excessive rib retraction, and rib preservation when possible. III. The third principle is that closure must be meticulous and appropriate. Strict layered closure is the rule for thoracic surgical incisions. Every effort should be made to approximate the individual divided chest-wall muscles in appropriate layers; otherwise, a significant delay in the recovery of range of motion (ROM) may result. Care must be taken to avoid over approximating the ribs and to prevent an override; this will help minimize postoperative pain. POST-OPERATIVE CARE AND MONITORING

Diuretics also known as water pills increases the excretion of water and electrolytes (Na+) in urine. Natriuresis – large amount of sodium excreted in urine due to the action of kidneys. Promoted by – ventricular and atrial natriuretic as well as calcitonin. Inhibited by chemicals such as aldosterone. The drugs which increases sodium excretion are known as natriuretic. Diuresis – increased or excessive production of urine. The drugs which enhances the excretion of water without loss of electrolyte is called as aquaretic.
