Industrial and commercial real estate is a dynamic and rapidly changing industry that places the same demand on its technology. A
greater challenge, however, is to shift the role of IT from just a support mechanism into a transformative framework that will sustain
a company's global competitiveness.
As a leading industrial real estate company, our client's IT organization faced the challenge of managing their existing Microsoft .NET
based applications and deploying new applications with reduced risks, cost and effectively managing change. Although, the client
had invested significantly in Microsoft SharePoint licenses, they were unable to effectively leverage the portal and collaboration
capabilities of SharePoint to engage with their employees. They wanted to take advantage of strategic global sourcing with flexible
delivery models to meet demands and at the same time, deliver more value from their application investments.
Our client sought a partner to support a global sourcing model for application development and a team to provide maintenance and
production support for a significant part of their application portfolio. In addition, the partner was expected to act as a change agent
within the organization and help the organization internalize the changes.
Application Management Services Lead to Cost Savings and Increased Organizational Responsiveness
YASH conducted a Rapid Enterprise Application Planning engagement that enabled prioritization of targeted initiatives, allowing the
organization to better align their IT investments with business objectives. This enterprise approach helped to first reduce and manage
IT costs or business processes, eliminating redundancies and looking for opportunities for cost sharing. In addition, YASH recommended
and implemented a change management methodology to ensure that the application change requests were appropriately handled with
automated deployment procedures for productionizing the applications.
To maximize the value of SharePoint, YASH helped the client integrate SharePoint with EMC Documentum, their existing document
management system, for seamless document sharing. Additional improvements included the ability to deliver Business Intelligence
reports developed using IBM Cognos and SAP Business Objects through the SharePoint portal. YASH also enhanced the SharePoint portal
using collaboration features to improve user adoption and provided platform management support using an onsite-offshore delivery
model. As part of the application modernization initiative, the existing IT ticket management system, developed using ASP.NET was
also retooled using the latest UX technologies such as SilverLight to improve user satisfaction. As a result, our client was able to quickly
adapt to changing market conditions and leverage best of breed service capabilities to support the organization's strategic direction.
