2. MUSIC MAGAZINE TITLE
Metopia OR Nyctopia
Met- shortened form of metal (metallum Latin), this may be more apt than nyct-
Nyct- (originating from the Greek goddess of night, Nyx) from Latin Nycto- meaning night,
alludes to the occult and archaic, prevalent themes in metal. Appreciated by an educated
audience. Appeals to an audience who enjoys gothic metal or metal in general
-Opia meaning ‘place’ in ancient Greek, alludes to the idea of ‘utopia’, e.g. Night-
Utopia/Metal-Utopia.

Archaic Lettering ‘Old English’ or ‘Algerian’, ‘Nyct/Nyct’ will be in this, ‘Opia/topia’

either be grey/red/black, all representing metal in their own way. The colour scheme will be

6. PUBLISHED BY
Future Publishers as they are a mainstream and international label, they publish magazines
such as Metalhammer so this company already has a tangible grasp on the target audience,
thereby benefitting sales for my magazine exponentially. By doing this, I can also make use of
the cross-media events hosted by similar genres of music magazines under the Future label.

7. TARGET AUDIENCE
Adult audience, focused from 18-28, predominantly male due to fact that heavy metal is
considered ‘masculine’—I will attempt to lessen the gender division, e.g. 75% of the audience
are male, by focusing more on fashion, as well as adding a section exclusive to female lead
bands, this will bring a rise to female audience by at least 10-20% at least. an ABC1 audience,
as the magazine deals with high literature, live music, event, fashion, gaming, festivals,
literature, music, instruments.
